View Full Version : Hope to join the family soon...
I just wanted to say hi and I hope I can join the MM family soon.... It all depends on what happens in the next few days. My plans are to get a 2004 MM if possible and add a turbo kit within 6 months of getting it.
Anyone know of a dealer with new Marauders left on the lot...??
I tried to search on the Mercury site but it doesnt allow Marauder to be entered as a option.
And autotrader is useless in my experience. The places I have called that advertise having one say they sold it but they can get me one... I assume that is just a line.
I am going to my local Mercury dealer tomorrow to see if they have any other resources but thought I would post here for advice.
I need a car by Tuesday because I sold my current vehicle. If I have a line on a new car I can rent a car in the interim. But if I dont see any hope I will most likely get a 2005 Mustang GT.
Thanks for looking and any advice you can give.

Are you looking for brand new?
There was a brand new 2003 300A in Vermont first week in January. I don't know if it has sold yet or not.

Welcome aboard. What he said and shows is all you need to keep that smile from leaving your face.
Thanks for the replies guys....
New isnt a requirement but it would be nice. I have been looking for a used one as well. There is one on this site that has lots of great mods. Including ones done by Dennis Reinhart which is a shop here in town. I would love to get this car but it is in NJ I believe and has over 20k miles on it. I was hoping for fewer than that.
There is a 2004 300a (whatever that means, I assume it is a 'run' indicator) that the guy wants to trade for a Cobra. I emailed him to see if he would sell it but havent got a response.
As far as turbo versus twin screw. Since I'm new here I won't start a debate on the advantages and disadvantages of each. But I will say they are both great power adders and you are right, my smile would NOT leave my face with either!!!!!! But my friend owns a performance shop here in town (racerwalsh)and wants to see a turbo Marauder go together. So it will be somewhat of a test vehicle for him. So its really just picking one of 2 great choices to experiment with...!
Anyone know of a way to search the Mercury dealers inventory nationwide to see if they have one on the lot...????? Again, the Mercury site wouldnt let me put Marauder in...

Welcome to the greatest site on the web for our cars!! Good luck with your purchase...You may wanna check out the link at the bottom of this page that says Dennis Reinhart since he's only around the corner from you ...
I wanted to at least get more information on the Trilogy product so I went to the site.
If you are using a Eaton, what keeps you from using a Kenne Bell or Whipple? There are significant gains in HP using these 2 units over a Eaton... Although I know of a number of places that do amazing port work to the Eatons and get much more flow out of them...
Just curious...

Thanks for the welcome..!
I've been to Dennis' shop.. In fact the owner of racerwalsh and I went there for his open house in his new shop. He is looking for me a Marauder as well. But only luck so far was a used one with 30k miles.... Didnt get a price on it as it was just to high mileage.

Thats the one Id buy.
Hey guys!
Great site! I've been looking for a leftover 04 in the Philly area for a couple of weeks now with no luck. I guess I'm ready to look at used - where is the blue MM with 8,000 miles located? Difficult to make a decision without a test drive.
Any leads appreciated!!!

BTW, a warning about those test drives. They are the ultimate sales pitch for this car. I know, I drove my first test drive home, and I don't think I'm :alone: here.
Hope you fine one soon, so you can start wearin' a :D with the rest of us. :burnout:

:) Todd,
You will find that there are a few of us who negotiated and basically bought our cars before the test drive. Once the "bug" bites you, you have to have one and will often times travel long distances to get your hands on the right one. Welcome to the best site, bar none.

Thank you. I appreciate the kind welcome...!
Maybe I will, but to post rude comments to a new guy that obviously doesn't know about the jabbing that goes on between another Todd and the poster deserves a snide come back on my part.
He doesnt know me and he feels the anonomous nature of the internet gives him the right to make someone feel unwelcome. Screw him. I know I'm new here and dont want to make enemies right off the bat. But I wouldnt put up with it in person, and darn sure wouldnt put up with it on the internet.
And it looks like I will not be finding a Marauder in the shape I want it so I guess I will not be joining the family after all. Even though I already ordered 2 sets of those theft deterent valve stem caps the vendor here is selling. Guess I'll throw those in the tool box witht he rest of the junk...... :depress:
I am looking at one tomorrow. A 2003, black, with 44k on the odometer. Even though the miles are high I would be pulling the engine soon anyway to add all forged internals and switching cams for turbo. So the miles isnt bad. They want 21k. But if the inside and paint isnt almost perfect I am gonna pass.

Todd and X369, welcome to the MM.Net :welcome:
X369 .... hope you get your MM before the April Northeast L/M Cruise night. Ought to be several Marauders on-site for the event. Check out "The Dealer" threads. :D
Todd .... don't take it too personally. :( I am sure that it was "said" completely in jest ... unfortunately you don't know the background and sometimes the intent can be misinterpreted. This is the friendliest site on the net .... and most helpful and informative as well.

Todd, welcome to the board.
To answer some of your questions:
There's probably more modified in any one model year than Marauders period, so there's only a couple of heavily modified Marauders.
The reason that you see alot of Eaton blowers here is simple. There is a kit available for the Marauder from Trilogy Motorsports that uses the Eaton M112.
There is also a Vortech kit and a new Procharger kit. Those are the three kits available that will guaranteed work on a Marauder.
The reason you don't see folks going to a Whipple or Kenne Belle is that there's no kits available. Someday, someone with the bucks will probably get one, just to be different.
I can't offhand think of anyone that's gone with forged internals on their engine. Most of the guys are going to the safe limit of the stock internals with about 8psi of boost and calling it quits. That seems to be where most people want their cars to be... 360-420 RWHP or so running mid 13s to low 12s.:burn:
The people that looked at turbos found that they don't fit well at all. I'm not going to say it can't be done, but it would be much harder than supercharging. Would turbos make more power, you betcha.. worth it? :dunno:

Yep, that would be me hiding here on the internet. With my name, telephone number, and products I have made for the folks here all hiding right there in plain view.
Oh, and don't feel you would have to put up with me. Just ignore me.....if you can.
