I'm running the new Open Comp class that they opened up this year. True street has a 30 mile parade lap and a 30 min. cool down period. Ford has Fast Fords with an elapse time of 0.000 to 14.00 then quick ford has 0.000 to 16.00 then Street ford has 0.000 to whatever you run seen a 2000 F350 Powerstroke do a 21.XX elapse time in S/F class. Its pretty much open except starting line aids like Delay boxes and the like.

I believe there are few options for us.

The only class for 4-door cars with a pro tree is Open Comp. It requires FFW membership to run. Runs a handicap tree for cars with 7.50 thru 15.99 times, safety rules applicable based on the speed your car runs. Power adders ok, slicks ok, pretty much run what you brung.

Otherwise, it's running brackets with a full tree. The bracket classes do not require FFW membership. Running True Street involves a 30 mile cruise, then you park the car until called to the staging lanes. Then you run 3 back-to-back passes. You can't open the hood or trunk between passes. You can open the trunk between the street cruise and the drag racing only to access nitrous bottles or intercoolers. The average ET for the 3 passes determines the qualifying position. All this happens on Saturday, then the bracket racing eliminations are run on Sunday.

Other bracket classes we should be able to run in are Fast Ford, Quick Ford, and Street Ford. Fast Ford is anything Ford powered and quicker than 14.00, including dragsters, anything goes. Quick Ford is for door slammers, but not necessarily street legal, anything quicker than 17.99, no electronic throttle stop type devices allowed but pretty much anything else is ok. Street Ford is for supposedly street legal door slammers, no electronics except a line lock and chip allowed, DOT tires and mufflers required.

Street Ford is what I like, because you generally get in more passes and run against other essentially street driven cars, although some of them are just barely street legal. You gotta watch out, though... I know of a Fiesta that made it to the semi-finals by running consistent 25 second times! That's the brackets though.

I always run true street. And have done quite well. I made it to the final 6 last year at FFW Norwalk on street tires.

I may try it with the M/T's this year....:hmmm:
