Dont know how to link it up but there is an article in edmunds.com "inside line" dated 2/25 saying Ford has decided not to kill off the crown vic/GM until 2010. The only plans are for a refresh job in 2008 according to the article. Good news if true, as the longer these are on the line, the easier for parts in the long run. Also, our cars wont look too old even after a few years. Guess they sell enough police cars, taxis and GMs to older folks to keep the line running. A good move by Ford.

Ford doesn't make a ton of money off of the police market up front...where they make it up is in the repairs later on.

I don't believe you can get an extended warranty on a police service vehicle...so after 36K...its all gravy :)

Some departments like the NYPD do all their own repairs after warranty.

Not entirely true... The Panther platform has been around since '79. Ford definitely recouped any and all tooling cost along time ago. The Panther can still be considered a cash cow for Ford. Not as big as trucks and suv's but more than what you would think.

Great news.
That means there may be another Marauder on the horizon.

Or maybe the SVT will take the CV Sport and supercharge it. That would be acceptable if the MM is no more.

Yeah, that'd be a nice engine option, especially for the LX Sport.

That all wheel drive Town Car based on a stretched 500 would be a good start to a nice sport sedan. Just need enough engine to make it interesting. The 500 won't pull the skin off of pudding.
