Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m going to Bradenton Florida this weekend for an NMRA race. Jerry Barns from Trilogy is already there for a FFW race with his #1 Marauder this past weekend, and then I’ll be hooking up with him at Bradenton this coming weekend March 11th -13th.

Unfortunately I won’t have my own Marauder this weekend in FL. I still have the car and no intent to sell it at this time.
About three months ago I sold my entire car hauling rig. It was a well cared for ’99 SuperDuty, Diesel, Dually and an awesome 40ft gooseneck enclosed car hauler. Because I’ve decided to scale down my hard core racing and stay away from bottomless money pit, high maintenance race cars, I also sold my Renegade car which was a Red ’93 mustang LX coupe that ran 8.90’s in the ¼ mile.

On a post I made a few months ago I mentioned about how my white 2004 Automatic, Mach-1 was gona keep me from racing the Marauder as much as I would like in 2005. Well something else has come up….
As much as financially I shouldn’t have done this, about four weeks ago I purchased a black 2005 Mustang GT.
The 05 Mustangs have taken a large leap forward technically with the power train, and I feel that if I didn’t get into one early on in 2005 that I wouldn’t grab the potential customers that are gona want to do things/mods with these right away and later on. After all 300HP in a 3500 to 3600lbs car by today’s standards isn’t all that great.

So I bit the bullet and bought one right off the lot at a local Ford dealer. I knew from the beginning that I wanted a black one. Luckily the one they had in stock had the red leather that every one loves so much and the IUP (interior upgrade package) which includes the “My Color” feature. I’m not real big on the red leather or the whole my color thing, but every one else seems to like those features so it will make it easier to sell in 18-24 months when I’ve learned what I need and move on. It has been purchased as an R&D car and it will get driven, used and abused.

The key reason I bought the car though is that they now have an available 5-speed automatic. Not the 4R70W 4-speed that our Marauders and Mustangs have had since 1996. The new 5R55S is unfortunaly smaller and weaker then the 4R70W. But it does make the 300HP feel very good because of its ratios.
The 5R55S has a really steep 3.22 ratio first gear so 3.73 and 4.10s will be to steep for these cars from what I’ve already seen. Aside from the new 5-speed auto, there are lots of other things that I need to get used to like; Fly-by-wire throttle, Variable cam timing, Flash only computers, All new chassis and suspension. etc.

Any way I’ll have the new ‘05 Mustang at Bradenton FL this weekend testing out how some bolt-ons and how our custom tune is gona work out. Just like my tune for the MM’s I apply the same methods and techniques on the automatic 05 GT as well with some very positive results on the street so far.

If you want to read more about the car and progress with it, just check out my web site and you’ll see stuff on the 2005 Mustang on the home page you can click on.

Cosmetically all I’ve done is put on some reasonably priced chrome 20” Enki’s with a 245/40 in the front and 275/40 in the rear and tinted the windows, plus a Marauder style stainless rolled exhaust tip. The rest of the exhaust is gona stay stock because it’s already 2.5” and very efficient and pretty loud for a stock system. I could handle the stock 17’s

Even though I cant get a drag radial yet for 20” wheels I decided that the new Mustang really lends its self to having no less then 19’s or 20’s on it because of the new longer wheel base and large wheel well openings.

Look me up if any ones out there. I’ve still got lots of Marauder talk left in me and a couple of plans for mine this summer.

Thanks

If my plans change, I'll go. It would be nice to meet Lidio & Jerry.

Lidio, that looks damn good. I have always said that the new Stang needed wheels to make it look better. Those wheels look great as well as the "spoilerless" tail. I would drive that one. In 18-24 months we will talk. Maybe I will buy it. ;)

The dealer that I bought the car from was kind enough to actually exchange the trunk lid from my GT with one from a black V-6 Mustang, saving me some future paint & body work. I like the look of that car with out a spoiler but the plan actually is to install one of the few after market “Duck-tail” wings that are starting to pop up for the new bodied Mustang. It’ll give it the look of a 60’s Shelby.

Any one potentially looking to put on a different, larger wheel for their MM… The 20” Enki on the stang in the pic’s looks real good on a MM. We test fit a couple of them and they really looked appropriate on the big Marauder body.

Lidio,

That GT really looks good.
What a great choice for wheels.
You gotta put those wheels on your Marauder and take a few pictures for us.

Good luck with the GT !

It’ll give it the look of a 60’s Shelby...You're on the right track. Now how about black rear window louvres, and a black stripes on yellow paint scheme for a really cool retro Boss 302 Shelby look.

Do a bore and stroke for a 302 cu. in. engine and you can honestly put the "Boss 302" into the paint scheme. It'll certainly be boss.

If I ever get married again, a new Mustang as well as my Marauder will have to figure in to the pre-nuptual agreement. I suppose she could have limited supervised visitation rights. :D

Looking forward to meeting you Saturday.
