After my car was rear-ended it developed a horrible metal-to-metal squeaking sound while driving.:mad:

Of course I could never get it to make the sound when I was trying to isolate it and I've checked every bolt and nut under the car front to back. I checked my Nitrous lines, mounts, and I even removed and reinstalled the front and rear bumpers to check the bolts and clips.

Last night backing into my driveway it made the sound. I set the emergency brake and stepped out and it stopped. After repeatedly backing in and out of my front drive (I'm sure my neighbors think I was losing my mind) I managed to duplicate the sound. After stepping out and listening for a moment I walked up to my grille and placed one finger on my hood and it stopped. After doing this several times I concluded it is a poorly adjusted hood latch.<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:12pt; height:12pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/KELLYL~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif" o:href="http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]-->:bigcry:<!--[endif]-->

After weeks of searching I rested very well last night. I shared the story with my wife and she just didn't find it interesting, but I know the other members here will appreciate my hard work and perseverance.<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shape id="_x0000_i1026" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:12pt;height:12pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/KELLYL~1/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image002.gif" o:href="http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]-->:)<!--[endif]-->

So, .....what's with HER? That's a triumpth of a lifetime, and one of those cherished moments. I bet she expects you to patiently listen to her ltest victory at the shoe store, where she tracked down and "won" the very last pair of ....... oh well.

This problem has been around on Panthers (vics and marquises) since 1992.... I get so many complaints coming from CVPIs I service, that theres an annoying squeak, and thats what it was.....

I missed the boat on this one. I should have posted up the problem months ago and I would have found it in no time. Lesson learned.

That reminds me..... I got this squeak. Sounds like the plastic bumper where is meets the metel fender. The car has 65K miles and never been in a wreck. Whaddya think?
