:help: I just got a call from my girlfrind. Her 1995 STS displayed a "Battery Low" Light, then died on the road. It is being towed to my garage now.

The on board diagnostic info center says "Check battery/Charging system"

Other than testing battery and checking belt and alternator, where else should I look for problems?:help:

Any thoughts would be helpful.
It is a 4.6 Northstar with 122,000 miles.

I worked for a cadillac store in 1996. Generally, they had good wiring so the usual suspects, battery and alternator are the only causes. Unless some overcharging caused the fusable link to fry, it's cut and dried. No mention of steering or overheating problems pretty much eliminates the only belt being the cause.

Is the battery old? Replace it.

Old bad batteries can sometimes overwork and fry the alternator. These years GM was having problems with the alternators due to excess underhood heat too.

Without a good diagnosis by a qualified technician with the proper diagnostic equipment, all this is just stabbing in the dark though. Go to a service store.

Good luck!

Sounds to me like the alternator. You car can run with a dead battery, you just have to boost it to get it started.
