Well Ive had my 2003 since September and she now has
12,900 on her. But I noticed somthing, the more I drive it
the more It seems the Exhaust is opening up, just a touch.
Its all stock and Im not tryng to say its somthing its not
but does any one else notice this about there stock
system? Could be just me, since I put a JLT in a month ago
I plan on Getting some Kooks/cats/mufflers in that order
but for now I like the stock sound. I used to have Flowmaster
40's on my CVPI, right now im just enjoying a little peace and
quiet, with a touch of rumble :)

I do believe the JLT intake is probably making more noise than the pipes.
My only plan to modify the exhausts is to put these electric exhaust (http://www.dmhperformance.com/ecutout.htm)dumps and dump into square sidepipes that will double as ground effects.
Then the car will have two modes, Fast and Half-fast. :D

Yes, the OEM exhaust system does open-up over time and miles. My MM has over 32,000 miles and the exhaust was louder even before I put the Cobra headers and X-pipe on it with the stock mufflers. I now even get a slight backing-down rumble. Not too loud, but noticeable. Just enough sound for me.

At about 5,000 miles started to get more aggressive, then the flows did the rest!!!

Mine just turned 11K last week. I noticed my first changes at around 6K. Now I'm beginning
to noticed another change, a louder growl (its a Panther thing) and a very slight backing-down
rumble. She sounds sooo much better now than when I drove her off the lot.<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1026 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" type="#_x0000_t75" alt=""> :D :D</v:shape>

Although I wouldn't mind a slightly louder idle, (compared with stock), I don't really want a louder note at cruise. And I love the tone just the way it is.
The note at idle actually reminds me of my '66 GTO, although it has been a few moons since i last heard that one. If I am not mistaken i do detect a soft but nice back-off burble, around 3,500? Maybe i notice it because i like to use the OD switch to engine brake a little with, and just to hear the sounds too. I love the sound of the valve train so much that i really don't want to mask it any with louder exhaust. And i want it to remain a family cruisemobile, plus i have one car that is plenty loud anyway. I think the MM exhaust tone/decibel level is fine the way it is, only reason i would do anything with the exhaust would be for performance, not for sound, except at idle, and then not much louder.

Ford V-8's sound the best.
The stock exhaust isn't bad.

I like the stock sound....a little tiny vroom when you crank it.... purrs quietly at idle to let you know there's a V8 under the hood, nice light burble around my quiet neighborhood under 30 mph - get an opening on the interstate or expressway and stomp on it and she sounds like NASCAR, moves fast enough to surprise the heck outta the ricemobiles.

I love the cold start-ups with the stock systems. When you start her
in the morning get out of the car and go to the back of the exhaust
very nice pure ;)
