Correct me if im wrong but wont the FR500 head fit our blocks? I've been going over and over MM and FF's series on Mods for 4v. earlier in the series They take the blowers off an 01' cobra motor and test in NA form and cranked out 370hp at 6000 and 377 tq at 4900. With the FR500 heads ( ported) and some intake and cams they were 450 hp without adjsuting timing/fuel tables. They think 500+ is achieveable. Now I know your all thinking thats going to be super expensive and SC'ing is easier.... I KNOW. I just want to know if its possible to do on our cars.

Sure is. You won't see HP in that range though. Heads, valvetrain, cams, ported intake, and long tubes will equal awesome power (and an outrageous cost). After adding all the accesories onto the engine and accounting for drivetrain loss, the motor would prolly be putting about 375-400 to the tire. I'm willing to bet it's closer to the 375.
Supercharging is easier and much more cost-effective, but I too like the thought of N/A power. If I didn't run out of funds building my car I was planning on a mild stroker with heads & cams. Wish someone would have financed it for me...

FR500 heads will fit our engines but the magnesium variable runner length intake manifold is an integral part of the FR500 package.
Unfortunately, that manifold is passenger's side intake only and, as best as I can tell, there is no way to reverse the manifold for Marauder duty.
I would love to have that FR500 set-up on my Marauder with that 'best of both worlds' intake manifold....low end torque and high rpm horsepower!
I've gone the build your own FR500 route with ported heads, oversize SS valves, new springs, Crower cams and an 'Extrude honed intake manifold.

LVMarauder,
If you can find someone as interested in this project as you are, and they have
the talent to build you a RAM AIR Hood, anything is possible.
You can put the intake on any side your heart desires...

I think that Paul's High Performance was installing '03 S/C Cobra Engines into Marauders....
they moved the battery to the trunk to free up passenger's side space for the Mass Air & Filter.
I'm sure that there was a LOT more involved with the swap, but it can be done.

Either MM&FF or 5.0 Mustangs & SFs had an good article comparing all the different 4V heads. From what I remember, the MM/03 Cobra heads flowed the best and the FR500 heads were close. I don't remember exactly. So, in short, do your research before making the purchase.

The '03 Marauder/Mach 1/Aviator heads are supposed to be pretty darn good as far as all the 4V DOHC castings go.
