Former GM Executive and designer and builder of the Delorean Sportscar died in New Jersey apparently from complications from a former stroke. Thats all my local news said so far.

This was a shock to me, as I thought he died some five years ago.

I guess old John Z is gone... too bad really. Guy was a talented, charismatic and innovative automotive engineer who really got things done during his time at GM as he rose to power there. Hadn't really heard too much else about him since the collapse of DMC and his subsequent arrest problems though.

Well there was that minor issue about those rebates stashed in the trunk of his shiny new cars.... where does one cash in a Kilo of coke? :)

Funny, I was just watching my Back to the Futre DVD this past week. He actually sent in a letter to Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis complimenting on using the Delorean in the movie. They used 3 1981 models to be exact.
