I like the 426 Hemi in some of the classic originals:
1968 Dodge Charger R/T
1969 Plymouth Roadrunner
425 hp @ 5000 RPMs

I was told by an old Mopar gearhead,That the 70's 440 hemi would not hold together. Many many failures.

At this point, you'd probably like to open the hood and see "ANYTHING" stuffed in there. Sorry, but I couldn't resist !!!
So Mark, any word yet on when we can expect to see your ride on the circuit again?? :dunno:
7 liter Ford motor (428 c.i. ) placed in a Galaxy 500 or a 68 Cougar.

This poll would have been more effective if you included more engine choices.
Some that You left out:
Ford 427 SOHC and DOHC
Ford 390 Z-code and S-code
Ford 351 C
Ford 289, 302, and BOSS 302
Ford 429 (N and K codes, plus BOSS and NASCAR versions)
Ford 460
Ford 5.4 (Lightning motor)
Chevy 427
Chevy 348 and 409
Chevy 454
Chevy 327
Chevy 283, 307, 327, 350 (regular Small Block)
Mopar Cross Ram Wedge - 413 I think...?
No doubt I left some out too.
:D

I'm more of a road racer type. I like small blocks, there's better balance.

I like the G-force, and bone jarring gut wrenching acceleration off the line that big blocks provided (as do smaller roots and twin screw S/Ced engines now:D ). you didn't list some of my favorites in the poll such as the 427 and 454 chevy engines, but out of those that were listed in the poll, I chose the 426 Hemi because I luv the big displacement as well as the cylinder head configuration of that engine. Many top fuel dragsters over the decades were equipped with the Hemi engine set-up. I'd want to put that engine in a 70 Cuda for authenticity, or atleast the resemblence of such.
426 Hemi in a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS. I think it holds the title in the 1/4 mile.

Buick 455 Stage 1.
Weighs 50lbs less than a big block Chevy. and puts out 510 lbs of torque!
As for what kind of car to put one..........well I've got this '82 Regal Estate Wagon that's just begging for more power.............that is if it doesn't get the GN turbo 6 I've got on the stand first! Stay tuned...............

YES!
You can't beat a 'CAMMER' - 427 SOHC.
Awesome engine with HUGE valve (cam) covers!
Pop the hood and watch everybody stare and tilt their head like a dog when it hears a whistle.....
"HUH?!?!?!....What the heck is that? Ford never made one of those!"
:awe: :bows: :bows: :bows:
P.S. BOSS 429 is a close second for visual impact.
