Good day all. I am contemplating and mocking up install schemes for mounting a cone filter in the space right in right in front of the wheel. Fitment isn't an issue, I got it in last noght and I think it will fit well. My question is this, with a K&N or some other oil type filter, will the oil be enough to stop water splash coming off the wheel or will a splash guard need to be fitted also. For those that wonder why go through the trouble...the air down low is cooler and there is more to get to. I fully understand that the MM air bix is the best that Ford has offered, I think it could be a lot better. I did this in my T-Bird and the results were something to write about. After I am finished and the tested with my JLT kit, I will definitly let you all know how it went.

Might I suggest you get something like what is on Donny's Air filter.

This is ment to help with water and other elements. K&N calls it a drycharger.

I've got the same K&N Drycharger on my K&N FIPK and it is now invaluable, I think everyone with CAI should have one. During the winter with salt, snow, rain, etc... I popped the hood to do the oil change and I noticed just how much that drycharger wrap had caught. It looked so dirty, but once I pulled it off to clean the dried out salt water splashes, I noticed filter was still 100% clean and looked brand new. I would much rather this drycharger catch everything than it run into my filter. It is made of polyester and any water whatsoever (hold it under your sink) just beads and slides off.

Soul,

I will do just that...I got to adjust the size pictures my camera takes though. On my way to the greatest auto parts store ever...Home Depot.

I read a post about someone using "knee-highs", (I guess they're called) for this purpose as well... supposedly work great, are cheap, (a couple bucks?) and available at almost any store.

My Fenderwell install is nearly complete. Made a HD run last night to finish connecting things and I everything cut and connected. I think this is going to work well. More to come.

Hey Big, it's mike, saw you at the CAM doo, last month. Take a look for posts having to do with "hydrolock", wherein enough water gets sucked into the plenm to break a motor. It's a sad story, with a very expensive outcome. Bottom line? Pay attention to shielding that filter/intake stuff. :)

Mike, I am looking into that as I get everything in place. It rains a bit up here so that is definitly up high on the consideration list.

Sad to report, I was unable to connest my filter assembly to the JLT CAI. Defeated in this realm, I installed the JLT and I must say, I am not sorry, it looks dyam good int there. Tomorrow I will finish cutting up the stock air box in a continued effort to have a near stock appearance when the hood is up. I will post pics at a later date. Sct installed...check, CAI installed...check, 4:10's on deck...check. Mid 14's...just around the bend.
