I brought my "Black Beauty" home 2 years ago yesterday. 11K miles, U/D pulleys, now the question. I had not started it for 2 weeks(garaged due to Indiana weather) Last night I was going to take her for a romp, AND,,, the battery would not turn the engine over. WTF?? Anyone else have this problem?

Two weeks of not running in the cold/sub freezing on a two year old battery - not unheard of. A battery that is getting a little tired will loose it's charge & may even freeze solid under those conditions! A quality batery should last four years of normal use. Frequent periods of sitting without a trickle charge to keep the battery "topped off" may cause premature failure.

For a moderator, I am surprised you didn't do a search on this issue. :P
I will summarize what the search you should have run would have revealed: the batteries in our cars suck!

Uh huh...can't add to much to that!
Merc, go to sears and pick up a cheapo $29 battery maintainer. It has a harness you can leave on the battery permanently with a quick connect to the charger. The charger is very small, and will sit under the hood, or on a block of wood on the floor.
I have one on all the cars stored, and on my lawn tractor. Must have.

The stock battery in the Marauder is weak....
get it replaced under Warranty? or
Go get a "new"...Interstate (rated top by Consumer's Report)

Temps here the last 2 weeks have been in the 30's and 40's, I noticed at MVII that my battery was different from other '03s, mine did not have the "eye" on it. I checked with my dealership and they said that it had probably been replaced on the lot due to "lot rot" It had been on their lot for @ 6 months before I purchased it. Next trip into the dealer I will have them put a load test on it to see if it is where it needs to be.
Thanks for the feedback!

When I bought my MM, the battury was dead after we signed the papers and went out to leave with the car!!! They got it started and I brought it home. I took it for a good long drive but the next day, it was dead again.
I got a new battery from the dealer the next day.

they said that it had probably been replaced on the lot due to "lot rot" LOL......."LOT ROT"......that sounds like some condition that the car salesmen get when they don't sell enough cars, or when they don't bath. :D

Looks like my record of never having bought a battery for a car in my life is in jeopardy. You would think that for the price of the car they would have used a decent battery.

My MM sat on the lot for 281 days before I rescued her. I'm fairly sure that they replaced it before I took delivery.
...and that OEM piece of crap died this past Thanksgiving. :argue: I DID NOT replace it with that Motorcraft garbage.
I don't drive her too much, she stays in the garage all safe and snug usually, but I at least start her every week. hmm,.. speaking of which..I should go do that now..

Yes - I had mine replaced under warranty a few weeks ago. They must have had a group of defective batteries. My 2000 GM battery never went dead in the 3 years I owned it.
The new Motorcraft battery has made in Mexico stamped on it. Hopefully it wil last longer than the original.

With 26,000 miles on mine, it has started every day from below 0F to over 100F.
When I get to 40,000 miles, the battery comes out.
Its just something I've done with every car.

I've had success with just disconnecting the battery for long periods of storage. Leaving the battery connected can always lead to any type of power drain. I've had a car go about 3-4 months in the cold without a maintenance device or starting it up. Not that I'm promoting leaving it alone for this long but just saying it can be done.

You can always put the battery into storage. Any place warm will extend its life if not being used. We do this up here with our lawn equipment batteries.

Thanks for the feedback! No problem - I notice our cars have the same build date!
I must be lucky. . .last Monday evening I was wiping my car in the garage listening to the stereo. :sing:
I went upstairs after I was done and didn't come back down till Tuesday morning. I'd been looking for my keys when I realized it. . . oops, left them in the ignition with the stereo on. I was sweating now. . .
I hopped in :bunny2: and she fired right up:woohoo:
thank you battery :bows:
