I went to Dallas, Georgia after work on Saturday to meet up with Toddster, Marty and Team Legal Knevil at the 1/8 mile strip in Dallas, GA. Man, the place was crawling with all types of fast machines... top fuelers, street cars, motorcycles, junior dragsters. Had a blast.

Here is Marty 'splaining something to Aric, the Toddster to the right. Legal Knevil is to the left.

Marty's getting ready for Fun Ford Weekend, which is next week (April 15-17) in Commerce, GA.

Here's Marty, tuner guru Aric Carrion, suspension Jeff Harris and the Toddster..

Thanks for posting these "DN"....I've got a bunch of videos of the car running...but can't post them here.

For those of you that are interested...LK ran a best time of 7.47 @ 96MPH in the 1/8 with a 1.76 60ft (not bad for a car that weighs out, with driver at over 4,800 lbs). And we are still dialing in the shifting. Trying to get it to shift closer to 7K....we'll get those ironed out next Thursday during the Private TNT at FFW.

And BTW...we've yet to spray it..... http://www.streetcarforums.com/images/smilies/nxsmile.gif

Tallboy, Pandes Performance would be the first that had done Prochargers on the MM.

That's what I thought, but the Pande's car was seen in the shop by one member here, then crashed and totalled in the parking lot before ever being driven by the owner. Pande's Performance made lots of claims about the ProCharger kit for the Marauder, even ProCharger referred me to them early on, but they never replied to email or phone messages, nor has any information about their cars (on the street) been posted on the MM.net forums.

I went to Pande's to see this Marauder when it was announced here. This was back in November of '03.

As I recall it, the design and build was completed by member Brad Bockstanz (BBockstanz) and reported to produce 700+ RWHP on a refined race engine, with a DS1 blower and water to air intercooler. Unfortunately, the owner crashed it on a test drive, and the insurance company totaled it. I don't recall many other features of this build, other than Brad incorporated the Reinhart/Cobra head cooling mod, forced tailshaft lube mod, and that the development phase included trashing the stock engine and a mildly modded Cobra bottom end. This project was never a "kit" as we think of that today, but it was the first MM/ProCharger. Brad went on to work for Dyno Dave, the MM owner and Pande went on to other pursuits, and the MM went to salvage with a bent frame.

This MM minute was brought to you by....Oh, nevermind. Carry on.

Thanks Tallboy!

I appreciate the thought that I am Procharge #1, but it doesn't really matter to me. This car is so unique that it stands on its own, whether it was the first or not. So those that want to quibble with your statement can kiss our collective azzes.

The fine folks at ProCharger were a big help in getting this beast set up. And, if you want to say I am number one, feel free to do so because no one else has dared to run an F1R in our cars. It's one big azz blower. The "D" series blower that Pandes was running is a lot smaller than the F1R.

Whatever y'all want to say, my Mom loves me either which way and that's all that matters!

Thanks again for the props Tallboy!

There are no 1/8 mile tracks around here...so help me out: What does that 'roughly' equate to in the 1/4 mile?

BTW: The engine is AWESOME looking. I bet lots of people twist their necks doing doubletakes when they see that beast between the fenders of a 'Taxi Cab'. :D :bows:

The rough rule of thumb is that your 1/8 mile time multiplied by 1.55 equals your quarter mile time.

So here that would translate to 11.58 or so.

Now, without making excuses, bear in mind that this motor is brand spanking new and has less than 100 miles on it and less than a half dozen passes, the tranny is tuned to shift early (about 6,200 when we could push it to 6,800 - 7,000 where it is still making power), and we still have timing pulled out of it and we are running it a bit on the fat side.

This Thursday when I have a private test and tune scheduled at Commerce, Geargia, we will see what we can do to improve our times. I am bring extra pairs of underwear! :D

Also, I would imagine that the 1/8 mile 1.55 multiplier is not as accurate for a 'small displacement'/heavy car with a power adder that is biased towards top end power.

Exactly. I left that part out, but it is an important, but unknown factor. These cars love the big end of the track and when they get rolling, they really get rolling. :burnout:

In the 1/8 mile, my car is trapping at around 93 mph. I can't wait to see what this thing traps at in the 1/4!!

Mac: You are a little quick on the trigger here. I wasn't directing my comments at you, or anyone in particular for that matter. Just a number of folks were debating about whether I am first (which is flattering) or not (which is, well, whatever...) and I just wanted everyone to have the benefit of my views..

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think this as directed at you?

Now who's quick on the trigger? Not so fast, dude, there's something else to consider.

I don't know if I am derailing this thread now, or not. It seems to have taken a turn on it's own, so, why not make use of this? As long as I have everyone's attention here, no need to open a new thread, right? But, ask and I will.

So...What should we think of the Pande "experiment"? Should it recieve any respect from our community?

Back then, the only reason I drove out to see it, was to verify the claims posted here, and to meet it's designer/builder, Brad Bockstanz. Very astonishing statements I might add, considering our brief history at the time. I was a detective on the hunt for clues, Brad posted some awesome "facts" that needed to be checked out.

While Pande is a race car builder himself, I found him detached and disinterested in this project. To him, it was just another paying customer in his shop, nothing more. It was all Brad's work, and to look at it from a scientific point of view, it's an incomplete project. Parts were installed and a few dyno pulls laid down, however, most of what followed was merely hopeful projections for "next time." Next time crashed.

Considering the failures prior to the last dyno, I would expect much more testing and verification would be in order before any accomplishment is awarded. As I recall it, the project smoked two engines before it ran decent enough to strap down. The car crashed before the build was completed, tuned, or, tested against failure. No other testing to speak of, the car never hit the pavement, it just hit a wall. No true real time feedback, no performance testing, no cost projections, not even an MPG report.

In all fairness, considering how we (as consumers) run designers, builders and vendors through our "prove it" mill for all other mods, this MM never launched. Before anyone declares something "the first" in anything, I think it should be a finished product with adequate testing of all features it promises to deliver. Any objection to adhering to a simple standard?

If y'all agree, then the proposed honor of "First Procharged Marauder" has been righteously earned by Martyo ETAL, hands down. Why delay this? The car launched sucessfully last season, and many great things wait ahead. It's got my vote.

I don't mean to roast anyone mentioned here, I'm just citing known facts, and loonee if we need to agree on this. The people involved have since moved on, and apparently without any interest in continuing this project. As I came to know him better, Brad is a fine wrench with lot's of talent, and I've had the pleasure of having him work on my MM. So, no one failed here, no flames. But (and honestly too), this project remains incompete and should not be graded as accomplishment. If I could earn a "first" honor by not finishing, let me run to Ace Hardware and see what I could buy and bolt to my MM...

Just my .02C, I can move this somewhere else if it's intruding.
