I attempting to install my new Steeda pulleys this morning, but I'm scratching my head on trying to keep the crank pulley from spinning. The (4) bolts on the waterpump pulley were simple to break loose. Below is some directions I found on a previous post that mentions getting to some nuts on the torque converter to lock the crank pulley in place.
Could anyone explain were these torque converter nuts are?

Four bolts holding on the water pump pulley: 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

Crankshaftpulley bolt: "Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt in four stages. Stage 1: Tighten the bolt to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Loosen the bolt one full turn.
Stage 3: Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
Stage 4: Tighten the bolt an additional 85 to 95 degrees.

First off my air wrench wasn't strong enough and the 1/2 impact wrench won't fit because it hits the fan housing, so an 18 mm socket and the breaker bar work the best, you will need to get at the nuts on the torque converter to lock the crank in place, a longer 1/2 box wrench worked well. Remove the crank bolt, then remove the large washer that the bolt rest on (don't leave the washer in place) or your harmonic balancer puller will rest on it, puller will have an easy job of it. Use the larger bolt to start the new pullie and then take it out and put the washer back in and the old bolt and touque to spec you will need to move the wrench to the other side of the TQ to retighten the bolt.

Any help would be appreciated to avoid the dreaded shop.
Thanks,

I did the crank pully in my car as well, Its a 2 man job for the most Part. I had a friend go under the car and use a flat screw driver to remove the inspection cover thats found on the drivers side of the bell housing. when the cover is removed you can see the bolts for the torque converter. You may have to use a flat screw driver or turn the motor over a little to get the 14mm wrench on the bolt to hold it. I had my freind hold it and I followed the torque procedure. It was pretty painless the hardest part was removing the Fan to get the impact gun in to remove the crank bolt, after that its a simple 10hp gain

I removed my fan & shroud assembly when I installed my Steeda undies..... Need a friend or significant other to hold one of the bolts on the torque converter or try and wedge it on the bell housing.

Thanks for directions. I'll give it another shot next weekend with a helper. Looking forward to those ten extra horses.

I didn't have to remove the fan and shroud to do the job (it did get a little tight, though). You need a puller kit to remove the crank pully/dampener. It will also take a breaker bar w/the correct size socket & large pliers to hold the pulley so you could loosen the large bolt that hold it on.
