HAHA! Jeez,.. what a peice of crap! the HMMV's I drove in the Army we're pretty good. I jumped a gully (not on purpose!) in the Mojave desert at about 40-50 mph, caught some air, hit the ground hard, kept going. :P

I like to see a 'civvie' H1 to see how close to Mil Spec it is.

I laugh whenever I see an H2,.. Suburban with a Hummer front facia,.. That's an expensive peice!

I have to give the owner credit for actually taking their's off the road.
Either that or the soccer mom behind the wheel is EXTREMELY lost and the person on the other end of the cell phone is too busy telling her about the sale at the mall to help her with directions.

Otherwise... hah.

Know what the sad part is? (at least here) Those things count as "pickups" for registration purposes if you get one with the removable top.

In Iowa, vehicle registration is based upon the weight and value of the vehicle - in the MMs case for me it was like $325.00 new. Unless you own a pickup.

Any pickup in the state (in order to maintain an archaic law that helps out farmers) can be registered for $65.

So that $60-$80K piece of crap is being registered for a small fraction of what my MM costs to register. :tantrum:

Its not the Hummer's fault. The county should be ashamed of themselves for the state that road was in!

Now we know why 99.9% of all Hummers are driven ONLY on the street!! :D

H2's take a lot of grief. There's a misconception by the people who bought them and a lot of the general public. The H1 has a good reputation, and a very high price new. The 2006 H1 wagon lists at $146,000. Most of the H2 owners were happy to spend $50K+ just to say "I have a Hummer" People were fascinated by them when they came out, not realizing it can't be the same as an H1. The H2 has been engineered to do a lot of things most any other truck can't do. I've sat in on a few factory tech classes. It's amazing they didn't spend a little more time on the tie-rods. It's a very common off-road breakdown for H2's. Used H2's have flooded the market, you can find '03's in the $30's. It's not a practical truck. After a few months of huge gas bills and trouble parking, people realize this. I've been inside the Hummer factory many times. They have a 300 acre proving ground there also. They'll teach you how to drive under extreme off-road conditions, properly, using the abilities that were engineered into the truck. I've seen the H2's keep up with the H1's when driven correctly, in some amazing situations. I'd never own an H2, I am on my 4th H1 though. Check the pics in my members gallery........

I'd say 99% of the trucks (no matter what make) on the road would've had some kind of steering failure if they were being negotiated through those rocks by a novice driver... or possibly an experienced one. That's alot of stress to put on a few parts for a prolonged period of time at such a low speed. I would've expected it to happen.
