As is typical of Detroit: Ford, having NO competition in the large RWD LEO vehicle market,
did nothing to improve the CV and now will watch as a substantial portion of their market disappears.

No, I'm not a DMC fan....and Yes, that is a mean looking Police car.

Hey Phil, how are you doing? How is Texas treating you?
I have a few photos of Tasha running the truck up at Hagerstown. If you want me to send them to you 'PM' me your mailing address.
I thought that you might have moved back based on your signature location... ;)

The rear tires look too small... but then I've been looking at all the Nittos present at Lidio's Dyno Day. But yeah, tough looking car.

Well, I guess that answers the age old question "Car 54 Where are You?". Check out the number on the side near the :flag: and under the spotlight. :D

Very nice, much better than a local PD trying to use a old Intrepid (ewww)

I've talked with a guy who runs a ford dealership here that has a section devoted to selling Interceptors complete with police equipment (radio, lights, cage, etc) installed. One price gets the car ready to roll on the street.

Anyway, he has always said that Ford isn't going to want to compete too much in the future as the price that ends up getting negotiated in government contracts when there are equal competitors (such as this new charger) is not profitable and not worth it. Reason why other brands have shrugged it off as not being any money in it.

The reason Ford has not updated their Crown Vic Police Interceptor package is because they do not have to. Todays cops need lots of room in the back seats for prisoners, lots of room up front for computers and gear, and lots up room in the trunk for more gear, plus a rear wheel drive v8. The crown vic is the only vehicle that is a true police car work horse. They are almost indestructable and stand up to intense wear and tear, daily abuse. The line cars at my department are used 24 hours a day, 3 shifts, for 2 years straight. The charger will have to be all these things besides looking good.

Chrysler is attempting to regain the Police vehicle market. Rear wheel drive and an optional 340 HP V8 may put a hurting on Ford. They will probably have special pricing as an incentive for P.D.'s to purchase them.

Michigan State police is one of the leading evaluators of scout cars and special service vehicles. Recently they used a magnum and charger and had some very bad results. I dont recall which problem happened to which vehicle, but one lost control and the ensuing crash almost killed the driver, and the other one was found to have a faulty or defective or broken throttle linkage or something along those lines. they were politely asked to take there dodges and leave. Highest marks given to the crown vics.

Something else to chew around. I had a conversation with a chevy rep that said to look for something from chevy sometime in 2006. old nameplate, but longer, and wider and rear wheel drive, with the BIG V-8. said it was a Marauder killer...
