Well, that's cool. As long as they don't start churning out 300C-looking Fords and Mercurys. I really thought they had something going with the concept 427 and Ford Fourty Nine. But instead we got the Audi/VW-looking Five Hundred.

I hope his expertese is tilted towards performance rather than style. If he's a style guru, then Ford's gonna end up with ugly cars that won't get out of their own way. Um, can you see a future offering that looks like a Chrysler 300 and runs like a Ford 500? :bigcry:

Well, the cars better have performance and style and a trend toward future responsible energy options or they are f :censor: d.

I like the 500. It make take a little to make it look "right" but the potential is there. Lower the stance, up the wheels to 18X8s, and drop in 4.2L V8...the 3.9L LS engine and bore it out, and put a tuned exhaust under it and you ahve the 500 touring edition. But the need for body clading and less chrone accents is a must. A Car that big will definatly benefit from power, and I am sure the all wheel drive will be fun with something going to it. Give it a chance.

And I agree, as long as the new guy doesn't start making Foystlers, I think we can look for some nice projects coming down the line.

Ford may realize that Chrysler has been cashing in on their big engine 'hemi' and follow suite. I want a big powerful V8 Ford which is what Ford used be known for. If i want a V6 I'll go get a Honda...

I just hope they find the right engine for the job next time:laugh:

Ford needs to dust off some powertrain names that get people excited again; 5.0, 351, 429 just to name a few. And so what if they are pushrods, people will buy them as long as they go like stink.

Sometime last year that new young gun at Car and Driver defended push-rod engines speaking very highly of them and talking a bit about the Corvette.

For whatever the lack, they make up for in weight-savings and they can be just as fast as anything else.
