My front end squeak has been driving me nuts ever since the car was driven off the lot. It's now 10 months old and I finally had enough and took it to the dealer. After putting me off as something he had no control over, he finally agreed to look at it.

They had my car all day, and when I went to pick it up he told me that my "non-factory" front sway bar was probably responsible, and essentially "tough s*&t" and the problem was mine to deal with. I told him the car had squeaked before a single mod had been made to it, and then he comes back with "that's normal." Bulls*(t. I had a Toyota truck for 12 years that ran as quiet at 160,000 miles as it did when it was new.)

Anyway, I take it home, squeaking all the way, (I can hear it easily when I drive slowly with the radio off over bumpy roads), and when I get home I check out this forum on the subject and find the hood mentioned.

I took it back out this morning and in the middle of a bumpy stretch and squeaking all the way, I pulled the hood latch and the squeaking stopped dead!

Now I just have to figure out what adjustments to make to the adjustable hood risers to get them at the correct height to stop the squeaking. I'm really glad there are no front end issues involved, so now I just need to find out out to fix this simple problem.

Thanks to all for the info!

Norm - That is quite a common problem. Turn the hood bumpers counterclock in small increments, until there is no downward movement when the hood is closed. Apply a little grease to the rubber bumper and problem solved. :D

Will do, thanks! Glad this helped you as well Scott. You would think Ford would have this one down cold if it's that common. Beats fooling around with the car all day and then blaming the customer!

In addition to that, what I did, was after I got the height adjusters where they needed to be, so there wasn't any movement possible when I pushed down on the hood while it was latched closed, I then backed off on the adjusters four tunrs, and applied blue LOC-TITE to the threads of both, and then tunred them both back in four turns so that the LOC-tite would prevent them from walking up or down.

Grease the hood latch...problem solved!!

Every CV I have had did this and my MM did as well. Abit of grease on the catch bar will fix is for awhile but has to be cleaned and re-greased every now and then. :bows:

PS: I had a loud buzzing sound above 60 MPH that drove me nutso!!! :mad2: I eventually found that it was a plastic air seal on top of the radiator slapping the plastic radiator cover.....What a PITA to find!!

Now only to find the proper adjustment. :help:
Seems now, one side of my hood is not lining up. Anyone care to provide measurements.

Hey, it's a pretty good gig, especially if you can bill Ford for a couple of hours under warranty. :baaa:
