PC sound question here.

I recently picked up a new Dell 2001FP 20 inch flat panel LCD monitor as well an optional sound bar for it(monitor attached speakers) .....

Didn't pay what you see there ... I got both shipped to my door for $455(good deal IMHO).

Anywhoo ...

I did a google as well as searching Dell forums to see if there is a way I can still use my external PC speakers & subwoofer with this sound bar. Right now only the sound bar is connected .....

Not much luck on that search.

Ultimately what I was hoping for ...

Sound bar for low to moderate listening needs(ex late at night) & the regular PC speaker setup would still be there for when I want to really crank up some tunes.

Don't get me wrong ... the sound bar isn't all that bad ... but it's a FAR CRY from what my PC speakers & sub can do(they can hold their own right along side the regular audio system in my living room for crying out loud).

Am I out of my league here ?.

Or is this "DO-ABLE" (use of both external speakers/sub PLUS monitor sound bar) ?.

TIA

Should be doable with a Y-connector plugged into your sound card. Then ya just turn off whichever you don't wanna use at the moment. I would check radio shack online first. I have bought some Y- connectors for my regular audio equipment there - I am guessing that someone manufactures them in the mini size for computer applications also. You are probably not the first guy that wanted to do that.
