Commodore was really playing the Star Trek card in this ad. Notice how Shatner and the boy "beam" into frame, how Shatner's sweater is the same color as the greenish uniform he wore on the TV series, the boy is wearing a blue sweater the same color as Spock's uniform, the "streaming stars" effects. Shatner even has pointed sideburns a la Kirk.

My parents bought us that when my brothers and I were kids. I still have the Commodore VIC-20 with the external Cassette tape drive. I also have the Commodore 64 with external 5.25" external floppy drive. They both still work. Plus, I have the Omega Race game they show in the commercial. I used to play that thing all the time.

Geez, I'd forgotten more about my childhood than I realized. Had to watch just about all of the cartoon intros and a few of the commercial trailers. (I can remember the Vic-20, but I was weaned on a TRS-80 and Commodore-64.)

Don't ever post a link like this again ... I may not get out for weeks.
