Against my better judgement, I ordered a remote for my MM from ebay. I didn't check the FCC number first, and when it arrived, it would not program.

Ebay listing is here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&?ViewItem&item=7973044488

My question is does anyone have a MM that has any of the following
codes on the back of their remote (key fob)?? I'm trying to determine whether this code matches any Marauder. If not, I will leave him negative feedback. If someone has this code, I won't. Also, first one who has this code can have the extra remote. Thanks!

FCC ID: GQ43VT11T EB-F87B-15K601-AB 4B-F87B-15K601-BB

FCC ID: GQ43VT11T EB-F87B-15K601-AB 4B-F87B-15K601-BB PLEASE check with your local dealer with regard to compatibility and programmability, BEFORE you bid, and the best of luck bidding >>from the Ebay add with FCC numbers.

So, why negative feedback?

Call me crazy, but if this remote does not work with ANY Mercury Marauder, it is my contention that he should not have included Mercury and Marauder in the title of the auction.

I thought only the dealer can program these..

No, actually, the MM owner's manual tells how to do it. It's around p. 71 or so.

I would suggest you Email the seller. They have a 99.6 % positive feedback. I am quite sure the will accomadate you. There is a disclaimer in their add stating to contact you dealer for proper application. Good luck.

The Marauders and its twins don't use the same fob as the rest of the corporate line.
The Panthers use a protocol called "Romeo" while the rest use a "Shark" protocol. (Same circuit - just a different language)
It's why our fobs are gray instead of black.

You want a fob with FCC ID: CWTWB1U343

The '343' is the part that distinguishes it from the similar looking Shark version.

Shaft333,

Many thanks! That is the best info I've received on this topic.

The one on my keyring shows:
FCC:CWTWB1U313
CAN:1788 102 352
PART#F8AB-15K601-AA
This might be the one I had left over from my 2001 Crown Vic LX - I was able to program it to the 2003 Marauder with no problems.
NOTE: You have to have ALL the key fobs you want to use in your hands when you go through the Mystical Programming Ritual. If you want to add another one, you reprogram them all together at the same time in order for your car to recognize them.

So in the end, if we all share this common ID, that would mean he indeed did get a remote that is not for a MM?

If his ID is off then he may have a Taurus, Mustang, or etc remote?

The 313 should be the wrong fob. I can't find my non-compatible fobs right now to confirm. Were your cars purchased used? Are they black cases?
I wonder if the boards had been swapped out of the cases.

Strange. If it is possible that you have receivers that work on the Shark protocol - I'd have to get my hands on one, because I have a killer replacement that I'd love to use with my car.

Aw well... If the fob works on your car... that's all that really matters.

LOL at "Mystical Programming Ritual" ... but yes, I did have them all together. The two original grey ones re-programmed fine, but the black one from ebay remained inert.

I am communicating with the ebay seller on this.

I forgot to say, the numbers on my GREY (original) MM remote are identical to yours. My MM is an early (1PP) vehicle, produced in March, 2002 ... so that may make a difference?

For anyone who has been reading this thread, I emailed the ebay Seller, and he agreed to let me exchange the black remote (with the incorrect numbers) for the correct gray one. It programmed fine the first time, no issues.

A sincere "thank you" to everyone who participated in this thread.

you sound like you have had some "joy" with these remotes yourself. I just brought a remote of remotesandkey.com but could not program it. I checked the back and it has FCC ID CWTWB1U345. The case is grey. Will this work or am I wasting my time?
