According to a recent article in one of my Pontiac mags,06 will be the last year for the GTO,This platform will not meet 07 standards.The new platform that was to include the GTO and Grandprix which was also puts this model back to a rear wheel drive chassis,for some reason this has stalled at GM.Partial reasoning lack of sales due to cost.That means no Buick GNX which would have been based on the now GTO platform.:(

GM ditched the new rear wheel drive platfrom due to cost and that they wanted to concentrate on the next line of trucks and SUV's. This just as the market for large trucks take a down swing.

Imagine that,could be gas prices or trucks are just getting out of hand price wise?

They are losing a lot of their market to other makes so they're scrambling to push new trucks.

It's a shame because all of the cars that were slated for that new platform were going to rule.
