Catfish will chomp on just about anything. I used to catch 'em on the Susquehanna River near the dam using bread and cottonballs (to keep the dough on the hook). :D They must have liked it 'cause the darn hooks real dayum near all the way down to the tail. ;) That one sure beats the 65 pounder pulled out of the Occoquan Reservoir a couple years ago by a mile ........

From what I have read....the best bait for catching catfish is the use of a piece of sponge dipped in a mixture of sour cheese/soy bean fermented mixture. When lake fishing, this recipe is first used to 'chum' the area before a treble hook is place into the sponge.

This story reminds me of that giant (and ancient) BLUE lobster that was caught not too long ago. In another man's attempt to cage and keep a wild creature in captivity...it too died along the way.

It should have been photographed, weighed, and set free.

They go ape over raw chicken pieces. Also anything that stinks will work.
