Orson Scott Card really hits one out of the park here. (http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/2005-05-15-1.html)

Quote from that article:
"We remember our forebears leaving their homes again and again to get away from an oppressive majority. We remember our haven being invaded by the United States Army; we remember being prepared to burn our homes and crops and flee again, leaving our homeland a desert rather than submit to oppression again."

Dear Orson, tell your sob story to the victims of the meadow mountain masacre (http://www.delange.org/MeadowM/MeadowM.htm). It's different when the guns are pointed in the other direction, isn't it?

And while you're busy playing the patriotism card, Orson, here's a thought for you: country first, god second. The US Army marching into Utah wasn't government oppression or persecution. It was a result of Mormons breaking the laws of the United States of America. But your story works better if you leave that part out, doesn't it?
