Checked with my local L/M dealership about cost of rear tires and to my surprise they were cheaper than the retail stores. $165.00 balanced and mounted (less tax) each. Maybe a trip to your local L/M could be beneficial.

I think I am just going to buy the cheapest rear tires out there so I won't feel bad during hard shifts or screeching launches...

Seems like those tires are still the OEM BFGs :)

Just Tires matched price of Tire Rack. $131 plus about $20 for mounting and balancing.

I thought the rears were being discontinued, or were not made anymore - from a different thread.

Front size is a common size and is avail.

Rear size is only made for our Marauders.

Rumors were saying that BFG discontinued rear tires, but that was just an Urban Legend.

Front and Rear tires are avail.

ah ha! I'm glad to hear that!

I'm getting some Nitto 555's at the next tire change ,.. but it's nice to know I'll still have a choice.

Just paid $331.90 for two rear tires from my L-M dealership. Price included Road Force balancing with the Hunter 9700 machine. Works out to be $165.90 per tire mounted and balanced. I decided to go with the dealer in case there was any wheel/rim damage. :D They washed the car for me, too !! :)

I got 20,650 miles on the last set of tires. Depth readings on the Left rear across the 4 tread grooves was 7-5-5-7. The right rear was 6-4-4-6. Looks like I might be leaning on those left turns a little. :burnout: Readings in millimeters. Might have been able to squeeze a couple more thousand out of the rears; but decided to swap them out now. ;) I have been running 38 psi rears for about the last 8,000 miles.

If you guys can wait 6 months, the prices will drop in the winter...
I got a set of rears from Tirerack for $79 ea. last winter.

Ya mean I should have waited longer? and I thought $82 a piece was a good deal :mad2:

Rumors were saying that BFG discontinued rear tires, but that was just an Urban Legend.I second that...I just came from my favourite local tire store and they made a few phone calls for me...BFG says the rears are currently out of stock, but that they are "going back into production". They only have a few left at a warehouse in LA (IIRC?) but more should be available soon. BFG said they are NOT discontinued.

...but I think I'll buy an extra set when they're back in stock, just in case they decide to change their minds later...

I think that BFGoodrich doesn't manufacture all tires and all sizes at the same time.
I don't think they have the facilities to do that.
So instead they will manufacture enough tires for say a 3 month period,
and then repeat the cycle based on sales.

If a tire ever gets DISCONTINUED, you'll know about it with the contacts we have at Tirerack.
So I wouldn't worry about it too much...

Someone previously indicated that storing tires is a bad idea.

Is this true?
