What are you using to block the sun from burning the dash at the front windshield? What would you recommend?

most new cars will last a lngggg time from sun.

Where I work, we park it right under the sun. There are no trees or shelters for cover. Of course at home, I park it in a garage. So do y'all care to try again?

Where does the bubblewrap stuff grab onto to stay in place?

If its a concern, get one of those fold out cardboard shields.

I use a "Dash Mat". You should be able to order them from any auto accessories shop, about $30.00, but if you can't find a shop that will order for you, you can get them from Auto Accessories 4 Less, www.autoaccessories4less.com (http://www.autoaccessories4less.com) but it will cost you $49.95 Phone 1-888-326-0054. If you do order, do not get a light a camel color as it will reflect in your dash. I have one of their two black mats:

#25 Black SAD-DMAT (I think this is the one I have) or
#25 Black SAD-VMAT (This one is Velor)

I have the black one in my Marauder. Works great.
I have the camel one in my Continental. I get some reflection back from it.
They both protect the dash and they both fit perfect.

I have one of those silver bubble wrapp things that streach accross the front windowSame here. Silver on one side, blue on the other. Kinda like a quilted foil sandwich thing. Some come with eyeballs or other such cutesy patterns on them. About six to eight bucks at wallymart. When Blue Thunder is sitting in the sun it definitely helps cut the interior temp down a couple notches. This is with no tint on the windows. It has a velcro tie to keep it tamed when not in use. It has some sucky cups on it, but we just throw it up there and flip the visors down to hold it in place.

Some of you folks have seen my sun screen---it is accordian- folded white plastic that works like a venetian blind--it is attached to the windshield by trim tape and retracts into a compact shell on the passenger's side. I don't think my Texas fellow owners can beat the results---I have a ceramic window tint (NASA style) and the shade--on a 100 degree day, the inside temp will be around 110--in 80-90 weather, it only goes up a few degrees. This ain't no :bs: I will post the web address of the manufacturer tomorrow nite--they aren't cheap---in the $ 30 range--but, I'm telling you, they do the job--it's raining or I would go to the garage (detached--20 feet away) and get the info now. By the way my MM is black with Charcoal interior. There are 5 of these in the family and the oldest one is 6 years old. You might want to take a look at their web site www.dashdesigns.com

I too use a Dashmat, have them in all my cars since I lived in Fla. in the early to mid 80's. I have the dark grey in my MM. All the cutouts in the dash are there, even the little flashing light for the security system. Keeps the dash clean and no reflections / glare.

Funny you should ask. I lucked upon a "The Fast and Furious" (silver on the flip side) folded shield at Big Lots a couple weeks after it bought the car. Had do a little trimming on each end for it to fit right. The visors hold it in place.

It did bubble a little the first few times i used it.

funny this thread happened..Sunday over here in South Carolina, I went to get in to the MM and WATCHED MY WINDSHIELD crack..Yes Sir ! As I was taking down my sunshield, I watched the crack come down from the roofline right of the mirror about 3 inches then it went into a "Y" pattern...weirdest thing I ever saw ! Insurance Company has it all now...got my claim number and will be calling the Saf-T-Glass guys at first light...

Anybody know if you can buy a sunshield that says Marauder or has the god'shead on it?

CAR Motorsports will be offering a dash cover with gods head at some point in the future. They are in the process of becoming a sponsor so they can more effectively market their underhool liners, trunk liners, S55 emblems, gods head grille and trunk emblems, then they will gauge interest in a proposed steering wheel horn button emblem, dash pad, and other goodies.

Where I park, my car is facing south/north or north/south. I have noticed that in the summer, the sun is typically "right over" the car and mostly radiates the front dash and the rear seats/rear window.

What would be great are really form-fitting front and rear radiation shields. The sides don't get radiated as much from what I have observed.

I ended up buying a mylar sunshield for the front and rear (the same stuff I use to wrap my air intake tube).

I use a Dash Mat also plus a folding sunshade that covers the whole area.

Does anyone have pics of the dash mats? If they are tasteful I may have to get them for my Vic and the E-250.

oh BTW the NASA "tint" is gold foil based to act as a EMI/radiation shield. The Navy uses it on their electronics crafts so the pilots and crew can have children.

I would imagine in space solar radiation is a big issue since there is no atmosphere for UV protection. It's you, the space suit, helmet glass, empty vacuum, and a glowing ball of fusion energy several million kilometers away.
