Sure do, what do you want to know about it?

The 390-GT FE motor was a pretty healthy (if heavy) motor for its day. Where it shined, as all FE's did, was the availability of HP over-the-counter Ford parts and such. Even the big SOHC heads would bolt to a 390 block. Where it suffered was that it only had 2-bolt mains. But you didn't need to twist it to 7000 to get good performance.

Now days, you would go with a 385 series 429-460 block if we are dealing with "old-school" muscle.

The 390 GT engine is slightly different than the 390 engines used in the early Marauders. The GT was rated at 335 hp, while the 390 4V used in the Marauder was 300 hp. I believe the GT used a hotter cam and better heads.

looks pretty nice. . .I know this engine moved Suzie Potts' '69 Mach I Mustang to 158 MPH at Daytona in 1974.

And yes, the two bolt mains were not the best set-up in that day but I had a buddy with a 428 SCJ (same block) and he ran that engine up to 8,000 RPM many times. The unsung hero was not the mains but the crankshaft, a nodular iron unit that was significantly lighter than the supposedly better forged steel cranks of the day. And when you're slinging stuff around in a 4" circle at 8,000 RPMs weight is a major factor.

Who's Suzie?

I have never been afraid to go past 7 grand on the tack and have never had a failure of anything but a rocker arm shaft. FE's are tough, a 4 bolt main one even tougher.

Just a note here, for those who may not pick up on this.

In this thread, the engines mentioned were either "2V" or, "4V" which indicated either a 2 barrel carb, or, a 4 barrel carb.

In our engines today, "2V" means two valves per cylinder as in the 4.6L Police Interceptor, and "4V" means four valves per cylinder, as in our Marauder engine.

Just wanted to avoid some confusion...Carry on.

Yep, the good old days when we used to count the Venturi's and not Valves!
