I have had people on traffic stops like that. And it can get ugly with pepper spray, ASP batons and pain compliance techniques. My favorite part of this video is the instructors narration. It really explains what is happening to the skepitcal non-police officer. In my 9 years on this job, I know of several justified police invovled shootings that never would have happen if this new technology (the Taser) been available.

Yeah, notice how she tried to play it up so much until the officer let her know that they get tasered during training so they know how it feels, and that it isn't as bad as she was attempting to make it out to be? It would've taken less effort for her just to obey the officer's instructions that he made very clear. he gave her many chances, and she still refused to comply. What a loser.

I have not had Taser training yet. But the pepper spray was a MFer! In the academy we all had to be sprayed with the "spray" or pepper foam. I chose the spray. It's like holding your face in a fire and not being able to turn off the heat. I stuck my face in a sink full of water....no good..that stuff just takes time.

Cleans out the snot locker reallllll good!

He said that he had to stick his face in the water bucket, and physically open his eyelids with his fingers to get the water in there. He also said that it was anything but pleasant. Perhaps you will be tasered when and if your department gets tasers some day.

.......I know of several justified police invovled shootings that never would have happen if this new technology (the Taser) been available.Seems like society (read: left) is trying to justify not holding people responsible (read: the public). But they darn sure want to hold some poor bastard that has to take their ***** all day responsible. And not pay him for it (at least what he's worth). Try calling a hippie next time your assulted.
It's the public's responsibility to head the warnings and obey the law. Not the LEO's responsibility to plead with compliance. She got "better" (more warnings)than what she deserved.

That even sounds much worse than the CS Tear Gas training that I received back in 1970 with the US Army. We were in a tent filled so thick you could barely see. :bigcry: Before you could exit the tent, you had to rip off your mask and state your full name, rank, and SSN to the drill instructor. It's a good thing that we weren't graded on accuracy -- ' cause when I hit my first 9 many more just kept on coming .... nine, nine, nine, nine, nine .... Being hot and sweaty just made it worse.

I don't think they do this (take the mask off) anymore in the new P.C. Army. :dunno:

I did it when I went through Basic in '93. When I got out in '02, they were still doing it.

HaHaHa she got what she deserved, she should have gotten out of the car. At the bottom of that page there are a few more videos, that show what leads up to the tasing.

I've seen lots of these Police Cam traffic stop Videos and it NEVER ceases to amaze me :shake: that people give the LEOs rafts of *****, antagonize the LEOs, and then don't do what the LEO CLEARLY demands multiple times with multiple warnings of the consequences.......

They get what they ask for!!!

ZZZZZAP!!!!!!! YEOWWWWWWWWWW!

Isn't there an age limit for using tazer and do you tazer someone if they say they have something wrong with there heart or if they have an implant? or how about if they dont tell you these things and something drastic happenes to them as a result are the police responsible? Just wondering..

That's when they hire a lawyer and get rich off the settlement with the Police Dept.....happens everyday. :shake:

I'd take a Tazer hit if I knew I could sue and get rich quick. It only hurts for a little while BUT you are rich $$$$$$ for a long time. :o

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/news/video/taser_video3a.htmlI support our police officers, but this incident is still disturbing.

Since I do not know all the facts, I will assume that the LEO's actions were justified.

Trust in our LEO's is one of the pillars upon which our democracy is supported.

I will say, however, that being too quick to use force to obtain submission
from a civilian can have consequences that can cost a local jurisdiction a lot of money fighting and possibly losing a lawsuit.

I am sure that woman's family at home is going 'KA CHING'.

A true 'Al Bundy' moment.

I think that each indcident has to be judged seperately and I don't know enough about this particilar case to do so.

The best advise for anyone stopped is to comply with the officer's instructions, period.

Save your arguements and smart mouth for your attorney.

They get paid to listen to your #$%@.

Stay safe out there guys.

Best Regards,

David

I don't think there is a lawsuit in this one. That stop was handled "by the book." She was given clear and adequate warning.

There may not be any money in this one at all. Even the bloodthirsty press seems to ackowledge that the LEO followed protocol.

Dave, you saw the video. The officer instructed the woman to get out of the vehicle MULTIPLE times, and he even warned her MORE than ONCE that he would use the taser if she didn't comply. What else do you want him to do? Do you expect a police officer should have to stand there and plead and beg the individual to comply? She was given more than ample warning.

There was nothing wrong with this girl's heart. All her problems were clearly located above the neck !!! :stupid:

You can say that again. My brother has just retired from a local police force here in CT, after being an LEO for 13 years, here's his reaction in the quote below to this video:

"I have been shot with the taser twice and there is no pain at all once
the electronic pulse stops. Even during the cycle it mostly makes you
lose control of your muscles."

Noooooo Billy you forgot that the officer should have allowed her to continue to carry on her conversation on the phone. After all, the police had back up, shouldnt the violator too??? :shake:

But I guess that most people wouldn't think of that since they're not trained professional police officers, although police officers have to be concerned about all things like that since it's their safety that can be at stake, and not the armchair quarterbacks watching the video or the news reports. Good point Defyant.

This is a repost.
It's still a very frightening video.

It almost looks like proof that the streets are still a Constitution free zone. Although I don't know enough of this incident to feel confident in saying so.

I've seen enough episodes of COPS (that makes me a expert you know) to see how this could have gone down worse:

I've seen cops wrestle a woman out of a van only for her to get her knife out during the struggle and she ended up stabbing herself in the gut when she went down on the ground.

I've seen mace end up affecting the suspect AND the officers trying to get the suspect under control.

I've seen the driver take off dragging the officers trying to get them out of the car.

We all have seen batons used on TV, it looks too 'Rodney King' even when its justified. His job is as good as over once a baton swing on tape is in the media's hands.

I love the tasers, as in this case the lady is froze during the jolt so she can't drive off, she can't grab a weapon, she can't do anything but lay there and then comply. With no harm to her or officers. She could have had worse wounds on her if she had been wrestled down on the pavement, hit with a baton, or simply punched.

She knew she was going to jail and just wanted to make it hard for him.

I would MUCH rather be tasered than shot, batoned, wrestled, or pepper sprayed. I have been exposed to pepper spray before, thanks to my older brother. It was a hoot for him, but not for me. I have enough sense to do what the nice officer tells me to do. If he steps past his legal limits, I will see him later in court with an attorney working on commission. I wish all LEO cars everywhere had audio/video equipment standard.

Nope, you'd be suprised how poor some areas are. Theres a county near here called Twiggs County and for several years the deputies even had to install their own radio and lightbar on the car when they were lucky enough to replace their old one.

I remember several deputies from those poor areas rigging their own camcorder to the dash.

Mobile Vision and other brand car video/audio kits go for $2000 or more. Lot of money for some areas where they can't even justify money on a cage for the car.

In my agency, not all cars have dash cameras. However, we are all getting them eventually. I wish we did have them now. You cant argue with the video. It settles alot of IA cases before the investigation even gets rolling
