It seems I may have maybe found 2 more headers for my Marauder and I was wanting to run it by you all. One is an eqaul length shorty header. It has has 1 1/2" primary tubes and a 2 1/2" collector with 16-gauge steel tubing. The other is about the same with 1 5/8" primary tubes and flat spots for the steering to go past it. I like both of them but I'm just asking about the Primary tube size.

A recap on headers: Shorties are good for top end. Long tubes are good for low end. All things considered what do you think will work better for street only. The smaller size will keep the gasses flowing faster and the larger tubes will help the top end...I think. If you all want more details ask as they should fit but would require getting a new flange.

A lot of stuff made for the '30-'04 Cobra will fit out MMs, if your're planning on fabricating the rest of the exhaust system on your own. But, don't dice it up too much, anything you get will be a remarkable improvement over the OEM system.

IMHO, the reason Reinhart's Corba system and the Kook's kit are so popular here, is that because they are complete install kits tailored to the car, and you can DIY if you have the talent, tools and time. Performance-wise, they are about the same, IMHO. There are also long tubes available here through Stainless Works, a board vendor, check them out? They offer a larger 3" OD exhaust pipes too.

I too would recommend that you go with one of the vendors here who already have complete bolt-on kits that include headers, because you'll save yourself alot of guess work, as well as trial and error (which usually costs money in the longrun). I don't believe a 3" dimater exhaust is going to be of any benefit to a 4.6L engine unless you're running incredible boost pressure from a turbo or supercharger (such as 20+PSI). In most cases with our cars, anything more than a 2.5" diameter on a N/A Marauder might reduce the back pressure so much that it will kill what little low-end torque these engines have in the first place.

When it comes to headers, the best primary tube diameter for small V8 engines (IF they're for a street driven car) is generally 1 5/8" (which is what the Kooks headers are) (Not sure about the shorty headers cuz I don't pay much attention to them myself). It's true that in general, the bigger you go with the primary tube diameter, the more top end power you'll get, while sacrificing some low-end, & vice versa. However, the length of the primary tubes also has an effect on where in the RPM scale you'll get the power. So header design can get a bit more complicated. But yes, there are some general guide lines.

Just have to fabricate a couple of pieces to make it fit. 2 pipes to hook on to the headers and a couple of short pieces to hook to the mufflers and resonator less tips.

I always liked how most MachI/and Cobras sound with Bassani. :beer: :beer:

They may bolt onto the engine, but they may not fit the car. These headers are made for Mustangs.

The 2nd set definitely won't work. They are for a 2005 3V 4.6 which has a different style exhaust port. I think you would be safe with the FRPP shorties for the DOHC cobra, others have installed them with good results.

Don't know, there's something about the FRP shorty headers I don't like. The ones I found will have to go uncle Todd for some finishing touches. If I even settle on these that is.

The only 2 "headers' that we would recommend for the Marauder are the Kook's...or the Ford Racing Products Shorty Headers. Any others are either a waist of time, money or both.

The 2 mentioned above will yield the same results HP-wise, depending on the rest of the system.
