I was driving back from Dallas after seeing my Dad and freed from being stuck in a traffic/construction jam on I-35...I set my speed at 100 mph to get home.. Next thing I know I have 4 cars trying to keep up with me.. A new 300 hemi, 2 imports, and a Dodge Intrepid. I have done real driving in my past and know that smooth roads are needed in order to go fast safely..so I slowed to 85 when it got bad. Next thing I know I have an Intrepid bucket car and Hemi 300( what a joke) trying to pass me...I wait until the roads get better before going over 100..give the guy a car length lead then punch it..I got to 125 quickly with the 2 cars way behind........ I don't think the guys expected the Marauder to lunge while punching it at 100...Hell, I was impressed for the heavy car...After that I slowed down, and all the cars decided to just follow me after that...Why didn't ford do a better job of advertising for the Marauder and keep it in production?...It is nice having a lazy boy chair car that can haul A$$,.
PS... I don't drive like an idiot with others in my cars, but sometimes when things are right,...sometime people need an education... :banana2:

No they didn't expect it. My stock Marauder seems to be most at home accelerating from normal highway speed to ludicrous speed. Rarely any open space on the roads around here to take it out for it's exercise, though.

And the stock Marauders typically run 15.0 to mid 15s stock (some are high 14s stock), hardly faster than the 300C / Magnum R/T.
My guess:
The 300 you saw wasn't a 300C (5.7 Hemi V8 with 345 hp) but just a regular V6. The Dodge Intrepid does not have a whole lot of horsepower, it's a V6/FWD car.
Look for the "C" next to 300 on the back of the 300 to see if it has a Hemi. For the Magnum, look for the "R/T".
This story reminds me of the numerous "kill" stories I see on CVN:
"Yo I wuz driving my stock 92 Crown Vic Police Interloper and saw a Mustang. I went WOT at the light and he couldn't keep up. Yo, it must have been a 04 Cobra!" :burnout:

yeah, a stock 300C should kill a stock Marauder. BTW, I thought the stock Marauders are speed limited to 117MPH.

They'll do one and a quarter in 'DRIVE'.

It was a 300 HEMI but he didn't pass and as a MOPAR guy, that car sucks IMO....I haven't done any mods to my Marauder over than K&N. I don't know what my car tops out at either, but I have had it up to 127mph before. The road surface were becoming worse so I backed off...that was in the middle of BFE in New Mexico....NOT in any city limits..I do limit my stupidity..

From a dead stop a 300c or a Magnum might win a short one. I had a new goat come to play at highway speed and he gave up 10 car lengths behind.
Had we been at a christmas tree, he probably would've smoked me.
Our cars aren't that great in the 1/4 stock, but up in the cams there really isn't a whole lot out there that compares. The 3.55s even make it better on the "open road."
