Ok everyone I think I have finally found a Marauder. It has 13k miles 2003 for $20,300. The car came from an auction out of Texas. The dealer will not come down on the price of the car at all because he knows that he can get this much for it. I know he is right. The problem is this car is a few hours away from me, should I go there and try to make a move? This seems to be a very good price, I am scared that if I dont act on it I wont find another deal this good anywhere around me. Most MM's with that mileage go for 23-24 around here at least. And apparently there are several other buyers very interested.

I have to drive two hours to get mine...the drive back is fun :D

Long as you have someone willing to drive you there and then ride back alone your set...or if your trading in nothing to worry about.

I asked the sales guy to look it over, drive it, and tell me what was wrong with it before I drove up there...so if you get there and there are scratches or whatever, point them out and get them to take some off the price.

:coolman: I drove almost 400 miles round trip to pick mine up. I would have driven further to get this one. It had 13K and they wanted 22.9K. I got them to take a grand off and they took my trade sight unseen. Everyone was happy with the deal.

It's a good price assuming it posesses no serious problems. Test drive it. With mileage that low, it should still feel factory tight. Verify that ALL the power toys work, check headlights, blinkers, windows, stereo etc. If it looks and drives like a brand new car, go for it.

I flew from Orlando, FL to Boston last week and drove mine back 1400 miles. It was a great trip and I enjoyed the new car very much. By the way, mine is a silver '03 with 17,000 miles (before the drive back) and I paid $19,700 plus the $90 plane ticket and about $200 in gas and motels. I say go for it if the deal looks right.

Well since we are playing.. "my trip is longer than yours" here....

I drove 5,384 miles (approx) in the dead of winter, through three different snow storms... and believe it or not... all UPHILL ! ;)

Arizona to Vermont to Arizona !

Most Texas cars are clean. My 2004 went through the Dallas auction and was still able to be certified by the L/M dealer I bought it from. This gives me 6/75 on the powertrain.

Check for hail (Dallas area) or flood (Houston area) repairs as we have had both since 2003.

Good luck!

Heres the latest: I decided to go buy the car (if everything meets up to my expectations) on saturday. I've worked all of the loan details out and was ready to go. Then I got a phone call...the dealer who is selling me the car said that he went to check everything out and make sure it was ready to go when he noticed that there was an issue with the fan. He said the temperature was fine but the fan wasnt cutting on like it should. He brought the car to the nearby LM dealer to have it looked at/serviced. So now my plans are broken, the earliest that the car will be ready will be monday or tuesday. Now I have to find a new ride for the 2 1/2 hour drive sometime next week and try to get off of work. (and skip school)

And I was getting so anxious its not even funny. Now I know how you guys feel when you are waiting on your S/C to arrive.

Should I be concerned with this fan issue or no since its under warranty??

I wouldn't be concerned as long as the dealer thought enough to send it over to LM. I'd probably find out the name of the service manager at the LM dealer and call him/her to inquire about the problem and get a reading on the maintenance history of the car. It will all be on their computer.

By the way, since when is it only 2 1/2 hours from Jacksonville to Texas? Or, do you not live there any more? Just wondered.

The dealer won the car in an auction in Texas and had it shipped to his lot in FL. Its actually located near you in the Orlando area.

Call Dennis he helped me get mine shipped from Shreveport to Jacksonville for dirt cheap (under $500). They are based in Jacksonville.

They have an excellent enclosed hauler that is top notch.

I think I am probably the resident "got screwed over while trying to buy a Marauder" guy. I had several MM deals go south. Mainly it was the fact that I was at sea and they were all long distance purchases.

Here is my cut:

There are so many members here who want nothing more than to help another member it is mind boggling. I was lucky enough to have one member here drive a few miles and test drive one for me. Based on his help I made an offer on a black 03. The offer was accepted but it was over a three day weekend and the car was also on ebay for auction. Since I could not get paypal to work while I was out to sea...it fell through.

I had one lined up in phoenix. The offer was made on saturday. I called and left a message on sunday, twice...and emailed to confirm. No return call monday...email tuesday to be told it was sold as of monday night....

Happily though, it was sold to another member here on the net!

This all led me to finding a BRAND NEW 03, with only 60 miles on it (again though the MM.net!!!! you guys are all great!)
I actually purchased it, but this time I went about it a bit differently.

I called "my" dealer. Told him the VIN, the phone number of the dealer and the location of the dealer. I had spoken to the dealer in possession and got a firm price, called my dealer, told him "I'll give you 1k profit on the car and 500 to get it to arizona for me". DONE...

all told, I will have 22,500 in the car + the shipping (and the 1K I offered Issac) so...24K

My point is this...keep your head up. Keep searching the net and keep talking to the "collective" here on MM.net.
You will be successful. If not with the first one...one soon enough

by the way, Issac tells me he has a line on two new ones, but that was like just over a week or two ago...if you want to call him, PM me and I will get you his number. (two new 04's, never sold)

be good!

Would you like for me to go over and take a look at the car and drive it for you? (depending on whether it's really close to Orlando. I've also got a friend who might be willing to help me drive it to you in Jax. Not a bad ride for us. You could buy us lunch or dinner and pay for my gas. PM me if you'd like some help. :)

I appreciate the responses everyone. Since the car is only 2 1/2 hours or so away I dont want to pay any shipping charges. Plus that would eliminate the first drive home which I have been looking forward too. I will pm you kartherma for that contact info, just out of curiosity of where those are located. As far as this MM than Im on the verge of getting, the dealer is holding it for me until at least next saturday, due to showing him that I am serious. :P I am trying to see if I can get a day off so I dont have to wait the full week.

By the way Ray I would take you up partially on your offer if you'd like. The car is located in Ocoee, we dont know a time frame yet as to how long it will be getting serviced but if its back ready for me before I can get down there I wouldnt mind someone test driving it since I havent seen it in person yet. Just to have some assurance that all is good with the car, above what the salesman is telling me.

Just let me know when it's back from the LM dealer (which is very near Ocoee anyway) and I'll go on over the have a look at it. Did you get the name of the service manager at the LM dealer? That would be a good phone call to make to ask about previous maintenence.

However RoyLPita did run the oasis report for the vin and he sent me the full warranty repair history. The hood, trunk, rf & lf doors were repainted for defects @ 25 miles and @583 the tires were rebalanced. I assume that report would include all of the previous maintenance as far as the warranty is concerned. I still may try to contact him to find out the status. I'll let you know when its back at the lot!

Thanks - Matt

All that was wrong with the car was a bad thermostat. However this worries me with only 13k miles on the car. Why would that have gone out this soon? Well the quicker this week goes by the quicker I will hopefully be a Marauder owner.
