The rear suspension in the MM has no springs. It consists of the air bags and shocks only. i.e. the air bags are the springs.

^^^what they said^^^

OFF, Only when jacking...........DOH! :banned:

That doesn't sound appropriate?

Yes, off for jacking. If you leave it on, the system will sense that the rear is too high and let out the air pressure to try and lower it. Then when you let it down off the jack, there won't be any air in the bags and the rear suspension will bottom out. Not a really big problem because the compressor will refill them and raise it back up. There is a time limit so it may take a few cycles of turning the ignition on & off. It's easier to just turn it off when jacking.

what about a lift that keeps the car level and lifts the front as well as the back?

If it lifts the wheels like the drive-on lifts at muffler shops, ok. If it lifts the frame, turn it off.

Good point Ford Nut. Especially if you go to one of those fast food type oil change shops. Alot of those guys have frame lifts to be able to do all sorts of vehicles, not that you can find one with any 5W-20 blended oil, but one of these days it'll be there. Glad I got lifetime oilchanges with mine.

so let me get this straight, the switch has been in the off postion, so iv been riding around with no rear suspension. i though you sould hit it on if you have a full load, or are doing some nasty driving. and yes i know...jack...off....

The air suspension should be kept on at all times except for when jacking, as described above. You haven't really damaged anything, yet... It takes awhile for the air to seap out. I would turn it on immediately though.

I rented a Lincoln TC a few weeks ago in San Diego and was curious about this air suspension thing. So I drove around with it off for a few days... and never really noticed a difference. What gives?

Hmmm, where else but in this forum would 'Jack off!!' be considered a helpful hint and not an outright insult? :D

Didn't know anyone on here in San Diego... to be honest, I wasn't even on here at the time. That TC test drive pretty much killed the idea of getting one, so upon my return to Montreal my focus shifted towards the Marauder.

About the a$$ sagging... never noticed. The only thing I remember about that car, besides the jiggly joggly suspension (air ON), is the one legged burnouts I could sometimes perform if the Earth's rotation was *just* right...

What kind of help do you need with your T/A? PM me if you have a question, I'll do my best to help.
