View Full Version : Why do my threads get locked

The first thread i posted about what s/c people have and how they like them got locked and when i did a search about s/c there were posts having a pissing match on which ones were better and they were not locked. Now i try and help people keep the MM in the MM.net family and i get locked. I read the rules and according to them vendors are not suppose to let purchasers know the status of the orders on the posts and they do and they do not get locked. and people sell eng. compartment parts who are not contributing members on the community disc. section and they do not get locked. If you are going to lock peoples thread then be fair and do it to all that do not follow the rules, not just the rookie.

Oh boy, I smell a locked thread coming on

Take it easy man, just don't stir the pot or feed the trolls and you'll be just fine. If a question will open a can of beans, do a search because its probably been covered. If not, post it, and leave a section at the end talking about how you do not intend to offend anyone blah blah blah...

All i was trying to do was give a heads up on a good deal. I wish she would have just moved the thread instead of locking it so people could reply to it. But now she wont let me post it till i get a final price. Just cant win, dont get me wrong this is a cool site and most of the people on here are great. But like the turbo buick sites and mustang sites this site will get better and nicer to each other when there is more than just 1 MM site. Hell i wont start up a site i dont have the know how, but someone will someday.

I'm sure it was nothing against you, but it's better to get a price for something that may interest someone and then post it in the "Classifieds" section. Or give us a link to the web site or company that has it for sell.

BTW, that was only your first thread that has ever been locked because of you. The other one wasn't really your fault. Anyway, you'll be missed.

Not a single person has anything against you. Well, I'm assuming. But you are not "Targeted" as you think and it isn't just you. Someone has to keep the peace around here, it doesn't matter who starts the thread, but how "In-Control" we can keep ourselves sometimes.

Some threads get hot-headed and they will be shut down. Some users get too hot-headed, and they will be banned. Remember, this isn't your site, and even the people who donate money - this isn't their site either. This place we all love belongs to one guy and his name is Logan. He is the boss. The reason some old threads may not have been locked before all hell broke loose is because maybe they were not caught? Or maybe a moderator decided to see what waves are made and go from there. But the reason they will get locked now is because the argument already happened, its history, and it doesn't need to be discussed again especially in the manner it was before.

I applaud your effort to voice yourself and go out on a limb, but it would be much more professional and constructive to hold a personal conversation with a moderator or Logan himself to see what comes of it. Not too many people will chime in here, most love this place, this is an incredible resource and if I didn't have it I would have a bald spot from scratching my head so often whenever I can't figure something out.

There is no reason to lurk around in the darkness, we're forgiving, especially when this isn't your fault. I like what you have to contribute to threads and I would hate to miss out on your $.02 but it's all up to you.

Careful, Donny a/k/a "Diamond Nutz" Carlson did that while he was delivering the mail and he got arrested. Took me a whole bunch of time and coin to get him out of the County lock up.

The S/C wars is a subject of its own, it doesn't matter who starts the discussion most threads will be locked.

The car you were advertising is a different subject. There is a Classified section that is supposed to be used for advertising items for sale. The threads that you refer to are generally vendors offering group purchases on new items or seasonal specials. We realize the classified section doesn't get much traffic, since it does not show up when you click the "new posts" button. Most of the time the moderators are pretty flexible about allowing you to post in the classified section then start a new thread to bring attention to it, such as "'03 300A just listed in Classified Section".

Start pissing and moaning about being picked on or complaining to the moderators and you may get to lurk in the shadows involuntarily.

HUH!?!?!- Continue to march (keeping posting, participating etc...). Let's chat at Chuck's in August and I'll provide you with some site history.
Nothing sinister is afoot and you have not been singled out, Greg- I'd swear to that.
Logan and the Admins have their reasons.

WOW:eek: some of you took this post the wrong way. RIDER, it is not that i was being unprofessional by not going to the Moderator, besides she Pm'ed me but only left her profile info, not sure why she did that, but whatever.iI posted this to hear from you guys who have been here longer than me to let me know what i have done wrong since all the MOD said was to put a price on it which it had and put it in the classifieds. I put it here because other people (not vendors, have put stuff for sale here also) And thought i could do the same. FORD NUT, I am not pissing or moaning. That is why i hate communicating on a keyboard, i does not show what emotion you are having, this thread was just meant to ask a ?. Also i was unaware that lurking in the shadows already meant something on here which apparently is not the same meaning i had. What i meant was for the past couple of days i have been concentrating on the Grand National and their forums because they have alot of vendor specials right now and since the parts i need for the MM are exhaust, 4:10s and a jlt or k&n CAI and no one has them on sale right now I am going to start working on that car again which means I have alot of research to do before I purchase turbos, Injectors, Mafs, Chips, and t/b. That I will only have time to stop in here and see if any specials are going on because working on 4 project cars i can only afford to buy stuff on sale to support my Hobby. Thank god i do not drink or smoke i heard that is an expensive hobby. So I will be around just wont have time to post on here as much for the next couple of months, Hey Texas MMs see you guys at chucks in Aug. but maybe sooner at the meeting depending if i have to work or not. Take care and sorry if any of you took this the wrong way.
