View Full Version : Gears
Can anyone tell me what RPM you are trunning at 70 or 80MPH with the new 4:10 gears? I am thinking about making the change, but am concerned about highway RPM being too high. Thanks in advance.

I've run 4.10's since 200 miles and can tell you they're perfect for the car.
Here's a chart comparing rpm's at various speeds.

Had a chance to see how the MPG has changed?

Thanks, Logan. Would that be City, Highway, or an average of Both?
So far with mine, I've had one tank that was ~20, but all others have been right at 15 to 17. This is mostly highway driving. I have about 2800 miles on it so far.

That's an average of both. I also drive like a maniac. Let me say this instead.
If I drove like a normal person, I'm pretty confident I could get 18-19mpg city out of her with the 4.10's.

With the Reinhart chip and the 4.10 gear, I consistently get better than 17.5 mpg around town and I don't baby the car that much. I haven't had the opportunity for a good highway run.
:D
I'm surprized at the numbers you guys are getting for mpg. I'm not close to that, and I'm still stock! :( I do run wot alot though, maybe that's why :D

My experience it with the 4.10 gear I'm getting about 1.5 to 2 mpg better milage around town. It surprised me to, but I've checked it a few times now. Go for it!

Should not be a suprise. The car is WAY overgeared stock. That means, stock you have to lug it on take-off, with the 4.10s, it now takes off easily, using less gas.

Thanks to all the information here I am really getting the itch to modify my car. The 4.10s sound like a must but I have no idea how they would impact snow performance.
Here in Minnesota we spend nearly half of the year with the slippery stuff and I can't afford to comprise traction.
Will 4.10s hurt or help?
Thanks

They'd be fine.
You don't notice the gears unless you get seriously into the throttle.
