When to the CFR All Night Street Drags last night and ran in the brackets for the first time ever. Boy, they sure cleaned up the procedures and it ran like clockwork last night. Anyway, Everyone got three passes to test-n-tune before the trophy eliminations began.
First pass: I run a 13.881 @ 105.37 doing the usual let-up when it breaks loose at the top of first and into second. Ok, just got to get that Consistent.. Outran a beautifully restored 69 Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland and won by .0171
Second pass: 14.148 @ 105.02. Got loose again and the consistency is just not there yet. Outran some ricer and crossed the line 1.805 ahead of him.
Third pass: 13.685 @ 107.19. Ok, I think I've got it where I want it and feel I can duplicate this. Ran a fox body mustang and crossed the line 1.095 ahead.
I park the car to let it cool and it's down to about 65* and really nice out. Eliminations started about 90 minutes later and she is all cooled down. I write a 13.57 on my window and make my first run against another fox and he dials a 13.60. This is going to be almost heads-up and that works for me!
We stage, the lights go green and I cut a .433 to his .181. He's obviously done this before. (haha) He's out in front at 60 and 330 but by 1/8 I'm .122 faster and pulling away. I thought he might have been just being optimistic with his dial-in but it was me that wasn't optimistic enough. I run a 13.146 @ 107.37 to his 13.583 @ 100.73. I broke out by .407 and he broke out less. Win goes to the Mustang and I go to the pits.
I learned a lesson out there last night and will have to see how I do at MV-III.
