I tried Molson Kick, this weekend... Won't be buying anymore, anytime soon. For those that don't know, it's regular Molson Canadian, laced with caffeine. Alcohol to bring you down, and caffeine to bring you up.

Anyway, after drinking a couple, in a short period of time (3 bottles in a little under 1/2 hour), we all got splitting headaches. There was nothing odd about diet, now any alcohol consumed prior to this. A couple of us were drinking Kick, and we all had this occur...

The best way to describe the fealing is a prolonged "ice cream brain freeze" After about 15 - 20 minutes it passed, but for a period of time, we didn't want to drink. We didn't want to BBQ. We just wanted the pain to go away...

Definitely not going to be buying more of this anytime soon... Back to Moosehead for me (in bottles, at least)...

Maybe the "KICK" name reflects the feeling of being "KICKED" in the head!

Maybe they should rename it: "MOLSON TUMOR"....

Alcohol to bring you down, and caffeine to bring you up.

When something 'tugs' at you like that in opposite directions, you think that would've been your warning sign. Although I can see the temptation - thanks for doing it, instead of me ;) I'll steer clear ;)

Actually, it's the anti-alcohol groups that got us to try it. The groups (MADD, etc.) are up in arms, because they feel the pep-beer is targeted at minors, and gives you a false sense of sobriety, because the caffeine keeps you from feeling down after several drinks. If they hadn't caused so much of a stir about the stuff, I would have had no interest in trying it... Guess their strategy worked well, huh

Thanks for the info. Reminds me of when we bought some PC strong beer and the best way to describe that was "it tastes like ground beef". Nothing wrong with beef, but I sure don't want to drink it. I haven't had a Molson product since Coors bought them out.

I'll stick to the Moosehead and Kieths.

I'm with you on those choices (Moose is better from bottles, Keith's is better from a tap)... If you ever have a chance to go to Halifax, you HAVE to do the tour!

Two years ago, my work sent me to Nova Scotia, for a couple weeks. I stayed in Halifax over the weekend, and luckily had a hotel room, stumbling distance from the Keith's brewery. Did my company not know this would be trouble?:nono:

I went there on a Saturday, early afternoon, and took the tour, which cost about $12. There were 20 of us on the tour... Myself, one guy of about 20 - 25, and the rest were high school students, in town for a band competition. Their teacher thought the tour would be "educational" for them :shake:

The guy of age, and I kept looking at each other. It's coming soon... The beer sampling's gotta be coming soon... Then the tour guide announced that "next up would be Mr. Keith's private lounge." We knew what that meant :D

We entered a big room, with a few wooden tables and a 25 foot-long bar. The server looked at me. He looked at the kids. He looked at the other guy. He looked at us both, and with a straight face said, "Well boys, I guess it's open bar for you two. You've only got about 15 minutes, make the most of it!"

15 minutes and 8 pints, later, I was done. The high school kids were staring at the two of us double-fisting, some licking their chops like a dog staring at a steak. I'll tell you what, that beer tasted better than any I've had before, or after.

They conveniently liquor people up, just prior to th gift shop. I paided $1.50 / beer, but they got their money back. Thanks to a little extra "influence" I now have Kieth's the t-shirt, Kieth's the golf shirt, Kieth's the stien, Kieth's the mug, Kieth's the pint glasses and Kieth's the coasters...

I've been to Halifax many times as my brother lives in Bedford. The one time I was able to make it to Keith's it was closed:( . It sounds like I should put more of an effort to get in next trip down. Spent most of the time pub crawling and trying to make it up those darn hills on a full belly:beer:

$12! Boy things have changed since I lived in Halifax. It used to be free. But then I was always a "ten penny old stock ale" man myself.

If you like drinking Halifax is the place to be.
