Anyone with a S/C running an oil catch can... Just wondering what brands aree good for the size motor, or if the ones used on mini's and the like will do fine, I'd ask the vt guys but they're closed and I tend to let things slip my mind.. I did a search but came up with alot of random conversations >_>

Oil catch can? Really?

Ummm...Not often spoken about here. I know what a catch can is, and what it does, but I'm not surprised your MM.Net search on a catch can was disappointing.

Please tell me how, where, and why, an oil catch can works on a Marauder? I'm not sure I am "catching" your meaning here.

Please tell me how, where, and why, an oil catch can works on a Marauder? I'm not sure I am "catching" your meaning here.for the S/C when the oil from pvc runs through the intercooler, in then runs up the intake, as is it exits via the blow off valve on my car, however I'm sure some continues on. on other turbos and other s/c cars it's common to catch the oil before the intercooler between it and the vac line... if that makes sense, I'm better with pictures. either way the oil goes into your intercooler and either stays there or sometimes ends up in your intake. I hope I was clear on what I was trying to say. I def have oil moving through my intercooler, I can see it on my BOV normal I know but I like the idea of the catch can.

P.S after I said what it did I noticed you know what it does :D but my assumptions might be wrong as I only have experience with forced small motors.

Ummm...You own a "one-of-a-kind" Marauder I am not familiar with, but your S/C setup is a centrifugal blower I am very familiar with. Though I have driven your car as a prototype as it was two years ago, I suggest that not many here will be able to help you with your questions on it today.

You and I need to talk. Send me your contact numbers via e-mail to SergntMac@aol.com , I'll call you. BTW, I am often in your area, a face to face meet is an easy deal from my end.

Although I don't have a Marauder, I can share my experience with my supercharged SHO.

When I was normally aspirated, I installed a crank case evacuation kit that routed the PVC into the exhaust for vacuum, even at WOT where (in NA) it normally would not have it. On the valve cover, there is a fresh air intake that normally connects to the throttle body. I had to put a filter on the end of the hose and cap the TB.

Now that I am supercharged, I find the evacuation kit very helpful. At the moment, I do not have a catch can. I do, however, have two of them that were made for me for my application. I will be putting my larger catch can on the evacuation kit so I can monitor how much oil comes out. In the SHO world, we do this to monitor if we have blown a piston ring land without having to pull the intake off to check compression (but we do check it if there is more oil than usual). If all is well, the PVC is run through and oil separator so you do not get oil running through the evac kit. Right now, I just monitor whether or not I burn oil out of the exhaust. I have a smaller catch can that will go in line with the valve cover because when I had the filter on it, I just blew out oil everywhere and shot my dipstick up. Since capping it, I have had neither problem. I eventually plan to put the catch can in line and a filter so I can draw in fresh air.

In the very near future, I think I may take the oil separator plate off and weld another bung on so I can run two evac kits from it for more than enough vacuum on the crank case. I really don't want to blow a main seal out.

As far as a brand, that is really irrelevant. Just make sure it fits your application and you'll be fine. Like I said, I've got a buddy that can make just about anything I could want, so he made two of them for me. Since I am just about out of room in my engine bay, I had to make them smaller than I would really like.

I use one on my car. It is a polished Moroso piece. It looks good and works well. It is mounted on the driver's side frame rail out of harm's way and accessible for draining. I am looking for a picture. If I don't have one, I will snap one for you next week when I go to visit my pet.
