Am I BLIND ...
Or do we not have any DROOL type icons ?.
I really NEED one about now :D .
232 miles on this beast !!!!!!.
It only needs a set of the more UPTOWN doorpanels that were available on these cars(sorry no pics of my 84's door panels) ..... & maybe the regular (4) headlamp header too.

Got to be careful with the OLDS 5.0 V8 engines.
In those years the wrist pins would walk...
You wouldn't know anything until the engine started to burn oil
and when you tore it down you would find the holes worn
into the sides of the cyliners walls.

I'd say GOOD! Then pull that 307 and BOLT in a 455! ( yes, bolt-in )
Dang those are still pretty cars.......

Nice! :)
I'm surprised for 88 it was still a 4bbl. I almost figured by then it'd be a TBI...maybe they knew it was the last year so didn't bother bolting in the TBI motor.
It's funny a few years back no one cared about these cars, they're starting to become "classics." Stuff from the 80's everyone thought was junk is starting to gain more respect by more people. It's time to start buying up some of these cars while they're cheap and parts are abundant, fix 'em up, tuck 'em away (well show them of course) and make some profit 20 years from now. :)
EDIT: 232 miles, so I bet it hasn't even had it's first oil change!!  :banana2:

This is news to me.
Being a fan of older Oldsmobiles & having perused all kinds of Olds related forums, I have NEVER EVER heard of this being a common issue.
There were some diffs in the wrist pins in the 307's ... some had free floating, where some were press fit, but I never heard of this causing a problem.
A couple things that I DO know about the Olds 307 -
1) Intake gaskets - The gaskets between the aluminum intake & the cast iron heads didn't make for a long & happy relationship.(MOST COMMON)
2) Cracked flexplates - could cause a sound that would sound like the lower end was on the way out.
3) Detonation prone - very important the EGR valve & ports are kept CLEAN.
4) Transmissions ... other than the beefier 200R4's found behind the HO 307's that came in the Hurst Olds or 442 ... most were throw aways(even the beefier ones weren't all that).
While the 307 was a no racehorse ... they were decent engines as were most Olds made V8's back in the day(the blundering diesel engines EXCLUDED of course).
Again ...
Not sure where you could have seen or heard this ... I even tried to google combinations of Olds - 307 - wrist pins - piston slap - etc etc ... & came up with nothing out of the norm.
