This truck pulls in towing a Charger to the shopping center where I work and the guy heads in to eat at a chinese place and I started eyeing the car. I figured he was a enthusiast of the show.
When I grabbed a spare sec I walk out to take some pics of it. Turns out he is with a publicity company hired by the studio. He is taking the car across the south to have it on display at theaters and such to hype up the movie. Other cars are being taken to other parts of the country. All the cars that will be on display were used in the movie he told me.
Anyway, here they are. Taken with a camera phone so sorry for the poor quality:

It looks like Ben's car, but I would have to look inside to verify. Ben's car did have the front crash bar and interior was in poor condition. God knows how many 01 chargers are still around. Ben has relocated to Tennessee a couple of years ago. That's a shame because I was going to play the part of the Sheriff of Chickasaw County in the reunion play at Sperryville. I sure would have love chasing the Duke boys up and down the Blue Ridge in the Marauder.
Oh, I don't think Ben would sign his own licence plate.

So .... how old would Barbara Bach be today?? :dunno: I estimate she's about 59 years old now. Wonder how well she has held up with time? Hopefully, alot better than me !!!!
Correction .... My bad .... Barbara Bach was the Bond girl -- she's 57. Catherine Bach is now about 50 years old.

The interior was mint condition. I could see that it was but didn't want to climb on the guys trailer to get a picture. It was tan just as the original was.
Lots of people stopped to gawk and take pictures while it was parked there.
I did notice it was missing the CB antenna on the trunk and there was no roll cage. Also, I think the original had the different grille where a little piece of chrome when down the center breaking up the grille into two halves. I wonder if the doors opened :P

The "Dukes" geek weighs in....
The original was a 1969 model. 1969's design evolution changed the grille from an open unit to one split by a polyurethane plastic trim piece, with gill-like slits in the center post, that broke up the openness of the frontal area. 1969 also saw the change to the bar taillights, a change from 1968's Corvette-style quad-bullet arrangement. 1970 kinda returned the front to a pseudo-1968 look, and incorporated a bright chrome loop bumper arrangement.
The vehicle we're looking at appears to be a 1969. The front raises the question as to whether or not the 1969 trim piece has been destroyed and discarded (highly likely, as it's a "Dukes" car and their service life expectancy is dramatically short---the grille trim piece was fragile to begin with) or if we are, as has been suggested, looking at a 1968 front clip with a 1969 rear.
In the series, the "General" started off with an outlaw's existence; it was used in a bank robbery and then wrecked. Cooter ended up getting the tow-and-recovery job. Originally a black car, the Duke boys ended up getting out of the back of Cooter's shop and rebuilding it for a race, the winnings from which would keep Boss Hogg from repossessing the farm. The only paint that Cooter had in the shop at the time was that now-familiar shade of reddish-international orange, and the rest is history.
As to Catherine Bach's bodystyle...it's classic and priceless. The grille still looks good, but the body's developed some ripples (the women on this website are gonna kill me :baaa: ) Thankfully, at least, she hasn't resorted to some of that "Hollywood Bondo" (aka silicone) to keep things straight.
Lord help me, I need a life......

307, you are definately the Dukes guru :)
I'm a renewed fan since it was brought back to TV on CMT and I'm loving the series all over again. My Tivo hates me for all the work it's been doing grabbing all the episodes.
In fact, currently it's showing the season with Cory and Vance :puke:
