Has anybody else seen this feature ??? Drill on down to the location you want and alternate between map and satellite views. Double click on a point to recenter. Pretty neat stuff. :D

I saw Mike's thread but it mentioned "downloading software". I didn't have to download anything.

Selective overlays such as lodging, places of interest, route numbers, directions, 3D buildings. I spent hours with it when I first downloaded it. Very cool!!

Yeah google earth is amazing. I can look at my house and tell that the picture was taken on a weekday by what cars are visible.

Um, you'd better go out and look, Hack. Perhaps they've brought it back.

Is that cool, or what?

Since we're in a rural area, everything's fuzzed out, so I can't send a picture of our place. :)

Google worked an agreement with ORBIMAGE (I do believe). They have acquired 15 METER imagery of the world with higher resolution imagery where available. The enclosed URL lists the 1 and 2 foot resolution imagery that they have available in the US. Have fun, I have all of my hunting spots found and noted with this stuff...it's GREAT!

If you haven't tried or updated Google Earth in a while, DO IT!!! They've added a 3-D feature for a ground level view to see elevations. Cool for looking at mountains! They've integrated Wikipedia and pictures too. All for free!!! For the version I had, lodging and food no longer worked. The new version can also integrate with GPS.

DO IT!!!

Cool that's new, hadn't tried that!

On a similar note, regarding Google Maps, I made this note a few weeks ago: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=39519

I like the Google Maps "get directions".

You can search from within the start address and end address inputs. Once a path is selected, you can "grab" either points on the map area to reposition. You can also grab anywhere along the path indicated and drag to a certain location to alter the path. Creates via points.
Very cool!

Also, if you were just to go to the map function only and type in "hotels manassas, va", it will zoom into the area, place tags on the map area of the hotels in the area. If you scroll down on the left window pane to the bottom, you can select "more" and the tags will jump around showing the next availible on the list. You can also select a tag directly to get reviews of the hotels. This is a tremendous time saver if your unfamilar with what is availiable in an area. Instead of Hotels, use Sunoco, Burger King, etc. How cool is that?!
