Do they fall for the vehicle or the man? Last week, I was talking with a young girl who told me that:

She will not go out with a guy who drives a car. Will only go with guys who drive a truck or SUV. When I asked why, she said that "Guys with cars make that car number one in their life". They worry where they park it, and the car is all they talk about". "Guys with trucks or SUV's don't worry about how their vehicles look".

I told her that things have sure changed, that when my daughter was her age, I would not let her go out with guys that owned a van :nono: . The SUV's of today are the Vans of yesterday.

BTW, do we MM owners really love our cars that much? Are they number one in our lives? I'll tell you what my wife says. She says that:

My GoldWing is my Number One Wife;
My Marauder is my Number Two Wife:
She is my Number Three Wife:

I want everyone to know that I never argue with my wife. :lol:

When I asked why, she said that "Guys with cars make that car number one in their life". They worry where they park it, and the car is all they talk about". That's why I'm not into car shows and cruise nights. The only two that I've ever gone to had all that participants hemmed in for several hours, so they couldn't leave even if they wanted to until it was over. I saw guys with their car's hoods open sitting there for hours, reading a magazine half of the time, and after about an hour or so talking about cars, I want to talk about other things. Yes, I'm just as passionate about hi-perf car stuff as many others are, but there's other things I like to talk about besides just cars.

And after I'm done talking cars for that particular day, sitting there reading a book or magazine while waiting for hours for some other cars to clear out so that I can squeeze my car out isn't my idea of fun. And then there's the warnings about not speeding or doing burnouts there too. :rolleyes: But I guess it also has a lot to do with how many people you know that are there. If you go to one of those where you don't know anyone, or more than just one person there, than it can get pretty boring after the first hour or so. In that case, I'd rather be at the race track, but racing your daily driver more than once or twice a year can get expensive if you begin to break drivetrain parts. But I digress......

So I can understand the girl's distaste for guys who don't want to talk about anything but their cars, but at the same time, if she doesn't have a hobby of her own that can spark some equally interesting conversation for both her and her guy, then she isn't being part of the solution, she's part of the problem. So maybe she needs to find some interests in her life too besides just men alone. Otherwise, she should start getting into cars herself, so that she might be able to participate in, and enjoy the guys' car talk. :thinker: unless she's one of those shallow women who want the conversation to be on her all the time. Then that would explain it also.
