No, I'm not a terrorist!

I have Flight Simulator 2004 and I added Air Force One and a more authentic Andrews AFB to the game and like flying the 747 around the world pretending I'm flying the prez to important places and events but I have run low on ideas and places. If I knew where the president was heading tomorrow or over the next few days I could recreate the flight but I havent been able to find anything at whitehouse.gov and the like.

I at first thought they didn't show the public his schedule but all these places he goes are booked way in advance, tickets for dinner plates are sold months ahead of time and stuff, so there must be some vague list and events he plans to attend right?

I'm sitting in the cockpit at Andrews AFB and don't know where to go :)

BTW, yes I am living in fantasy land.

If the SS does come by to question me maybe they can answer my question or give me his schedule for the next few months :D

I was wondering what base he landed at when he went to his ranch so thanks for that! Fort Hood it is this weekend :)

I wonder what base he lands at to go to Camp David?

I guess there is no 'official' list of the president's upcoming events he will be attending...I can't find anything like that.

This game is pretty relaxing and addicting but I wanted to have a weird twist to it as flying a generic airline was boring. Flying AF1 with some fighter escorts and a C-141 carrying the motorcade makes the game a little more humorous :)

Camp David itself. He doesn't fly to Camp David on AF1 but on Marine 1. Camp David is located in Frederick, Maryland about 100 miles from the White House. So they take the helicopter.

Some trivia for you, the airplane itself is not Air Force 1, but whatever Air Force aircraft the President is on is called Air Force 1. The moment the President steps off it no longer is Air Force 1.

Same is true with every service branch. Any Marine aircraft become Marine 1, any Navy aircraft becomes Navy 1, Army aircraft becomes Army 1, even I suppose Coast Guard 1 as soon as the President boards it.

I was a Secret Service brat.

For excitement try landing an Airbus 310 in a stiff crosswind. You can really get balled up that way. It seems like the ailerons are decoupled from the rudder.

Actually, they they fly to Hagerstown, MD then take a local road to the Presidential Retreat. Since Hagerstown has a tower and can be used IFR, and Frederick is strictly VFR, they switched to Hagerstown 10-12 years ago. Flying directly to Camp David by chopper is much too risky an adventure, these days.

BTW, I live about three miles fron Camp David. :)

You can go to Google Earth and have a look-see if you wish. Start at Thurmont, MD then follow MD 77 west to Park Central. It's on top, as you'd expect.

When he comes to Crawford he fly's into Waco.
I don't know the 3 didget code or exact name of the place though.

I also believe he has flown into Robert Grey at Ft. Hood.

I know he has gone into Waco for sure because we (Randolph AFB) had a broken T-1 there about 2 years ago when he was due to come in.The locals FBO guys couldn't unlock it to release the parking brake to tow it the story goes if our guys didn't show up to open it the SS was going to cut the door open to get in it.And the T1 is an Air Force A/C.

If someone remembers to ask, while we're at Detroit, I'll relate a personal adventure at Camp David a few years back. Folks had a sense of humor in those days, if it was now, I'd have made the 6 o'clock news. ;)

I was told by th SS guy I met while working on an aircraft at Kelly AFB,TX. (broken from Reese AFB in Lubbock) that I was on their watch list.
Seems I was at 3 campain stops in 2 weeks with flightline access.
1st stop;Lubbock,TX. that was home base.
2nd stop;Buckley Feild,CO.
3rd stop:Kelly.

Was cool talking to those guys(SS) but I allways felt they were looking right through me,they just had that "look".

BTW have you seen the long gun the roof top snipers use?

OH and BTW again,it was George H. Bush back in '92. And I got to shake the mans hand.Maybe no big deal but hey I did it.

When flying, I usually try and determine when I an over the location closest to the ranch in Crawford and flush the toilet at that time.

Gotta have a sense of humor here!

Regards,

David

I got it first hand about a guy who was on one of those roof-top details with a 7mm Rem. Mag. & while putting it back into it's case, touched off a round, causing more than a few "what's that's" on the secure communications channel. The poor fellow was quickly transferered to the detail guarding the jail birds that Castro had "liberated". :D

Why don't you fly the 'PRES' over to Jessica Simpon's house
so she can wash his Presidential LIMO ???

I didn't know that. Dad retired in '90 after serving the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush administrations.

You didn't say if you're dad is still living. Please ask him, if you can, if he knew a pal of mine, Bill Crawford, who was on the White House detail. :)

Bill was my neighbor and was uniformed service through Johnson's administration. He's the guy who ran the SS range out at College Park and was featured on the cover of several issues of "The Rifleman". Eisenhower was very fond of him. :)

Sorry to hear about your dad's passing. Hearing Bill's name would have made him smile.

I was the only non-uniformed guy on Bill's burial detail.

Like I said Dad was in the Secret Service from Kennedy to Bush 41. When he retired he was in charge of White House security during most of the Reagan and Bush administrations.

I recently found one of his old passports and it is mind boggling to see all of the country stamps on it and then to compare some of the dates too.

Some of the trips listed are historic. Such as when Nixon went to China, and to Moscow. Guyana just after Jonestown. With Kissenger to Vietnam. There are trips going to all over the world.

Mom recently told me something that also blew my mind, during Watergate he found that our house was bugged. He found bugs on the phones and in other places around the house.

They just showed up one day. She said that he got really nervous after finding those bugs, because he had no idea who planted them and it was never done legally. Eventually, they just disappeared.

Here's a fun anecdote from this month's Plane & Pilot Magazine.

There I was, climbing through 5,500 feet in southeastern Texas, when I had a close encounter with a Boeing 747 named Air Force One. It was closer than I would have liked, anyway.
...
Climbing through 5,500 feet for 7,500 feet, I saw an F-16 arcing across in front of me and turning right about a mile ahead. ... The F-16 arced by again, this time, only about 1⁄2-mile ahead and firing a dozen or so flares across my path as he transitioned from lower left to upper right. Something was not right.

I won't spoil the whole story here, so I'll post a link instead. :)
