Verizon is offering Fios high speed internet service which is kicking the tail out of DSL and cable. They run a fiber optic cable to your house. Speeds are amazing. The basic plan, which is about the cost of cable internet ($39 a month) boasts up to 5 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up (similar to cable, sorta. I get 4.75 Mbps down and 355 kbps up on Roadrunner); the next plan for $49 a month gets you 15 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up. Or you can go all out for $199 a month and get 30 Mbps down, 5 Mbos up.

Not available here, yet. I think Marty can get it.

Been waiting here for FIOS too. I found out I can double the download speed (3 Mb) of my DSL by switching to an ATM circuit (I'm on an "old" Frame Relay now) but figured I'd hold off until fiber is ready. :D
