Do a Search on the Subject. To the best of my knowledge, one of the members ran over 145 at Michigan International Speedway. Others have said faster than 140. The Marauder will go faster than most roads are safe to run. Speedway's are best choice to try for maximum speed.

I can't say for certain since the speedometer only goes to 140. However, I have had it pegged on a few occasions while the car continues to pull very hard.

I was going so fast that the clock started running backwards.

Did you use plutonium for the flux capacitor?

I am happy to say that lucky member was myself! It was actually a little bit above 155 MPH. The guy in the old AC Cobra that I passed on the front stretch said he was doing 155 and I passed him rather easily. Not going with the 4:10 gears helped keep the top end speed available. This picture is hanging in my Study and is my favorite Marauder picture....period.

It is my understanding that the faster you go, the less accurate your speedometer is. Am I wrong? So is 140 really 135 per GPS or what, anyone have comparison results?

I think your right about that. I think its calibrated to be right on at 45-65 range. Its off some at very low speeds and off at very high speeds. I think thats how I understood it when I read something on it.

Insane pictures - What kind of handling modifications did you do....I noticed just Eibachs - however you were taking on that Cobra on that turn - Reason I'm asking is because I'm planning to make this beast into a ride on rails - I'm not sure what I should do first. (implementing next summer!)

oh and, do you know how fast our stock tires are meant to be able to handle?

I know this may sound dumb, but it's my guess that the speedometer would show less speed than you were going, at very high speed. The logic being, since the tires are spinning much faster at high speed there would be centrifugal forces at work that would expand the circumference of the tire, thus making the speedometer register less than you were actually going. Does this seem reasonable to anybody else? :dunno:

I'd say, the GPS is the only way to be sure; ......or the officer's laser gun. ;)

OEM stock tires were ZR speed rated or > 149 mph (it is not stated how much above 149 mph). Originally the ZR was thought to be the highest rating needed. Hence the Z designation. However, higher ratings have now been introduced. Now some carry a dual designation like ...ZR .... 91W (means > 149 mph but less than 168 mph).

WRs are rated in excess of 168 mph.
YRs are rated in excess of 186 mph.

More info on Speed Ratings available on the Tire Rack site. :D
