Town and Country Ford is a Roush dealer, and today I drove over to browse their inventory. This nice black vert stood out. $42,900, pricey (besides the Roush Stage 1 it had special leather interior) especially considering it doesn even have a supercharger.

WOW, 42K is cheap compared to California. The most expensive Stage 1 I've found so far was 52K and some change. Mark-ups are like gas prices out here.

If anyone is considering buying one please dont. I worked for Roush racing for 7 years and 4 of it was building the roush mustang. You are just paying for a name, the car looks great but the durability is crap. I had customers coming in once a month with ground effect double sided tape peeling away and the side exhaust getting rip off the car pulling into driveways. I had a 90 vette with the switchable suspension and that car would handle better than the roush hands down. I went to the autorama in dallas and saw the roush and salleen mustang side by side and salleen looked better IMO. I bet most of the price hike is just the dealer marking up the mustang itself because they cant keep them on the lot.

I forgot which magazine I saw this in, maybe Car & Driver? They compared a stock 05 GT Vert and a Saleen S/C Stang. When the 1/4 time came, the Saleen Mustang (A +15k or +20k price addition) WITH a supercharger only had 4 tenths of a second faster than the factory GT convertible.

I really would like to see this new Mustang in a retro Shelby GT350 "Boss 302" trim. The yellow with black stripes, the louvers on the rear window...

I wonder if Ford is considering that possibility.

It sure would be sweet. I had a Hot Wheels collection back then and that one was my favorite.

Wait untill next year. Ford will have the GT500 out at 40K. Under the hood you will find a 5.4l 32 valve supercharged engine with 450+ HP.

Which makes the Roush all the more stupid...

I've seen them at the dealer here and think the price is insane. $15K more than a GT for a appearance package?

Roush buyers need to be pointed out and laughed at in public.

Right on. Roush is just a name. people that want to waste their money without researching, are paying thru the nose. gotta love that rear spoiler tho.

didn't Steeda have a kit? but you are also paying big $$$.

That GT 500 gonna be sweet.

I saw one in Coralville, IA, sitting in a shopping mall fire lane with a bunch of teenagers crowded around it.

I guess they thought it was something special. Then the kid did a couple of pseudo-burnouts to impress the crowd. I wondered where the mall cops were when I needed them.

Seems the closer they get to bringing it out the crapier this car is looking. Their taking off ALL the stuff they had on the car when they debut it. Now it looks like a GT.

I've taken a look at the shots of the Saleen S281. They also have the "extreme".
In my view it's a nice ride. But, the gt500 is 'da bomb. If you can score it.

I just spent two days chasing these at SVTOA on track at Gingerman, Michigan. There were two there doing durability testing on a new shifter. Their tow vehicles were the new Roush F150s, damn nice. I will throw up some pics tonight when I get home.
