Alan at Car Motorsports emailed me today to annouce that the awaited S-55 emblems are ready for sale and shipping! Pricing is different than I posted before:

It's new, and they haven't added it to their website yet. Just call them or email them and say you want the S-55 emblems. Better e-mail. Neither the two 877 #'s nor the local Atlanta number appear to be working, or maybe they're just all busy. Figured I would just cut to the chase and order the UHI kit at the same time.

Now if we could just get those Godhead's badges done! :)

Got ahold of Rich and ordered one of these in red, as well as the UHI liner. Wasn't sure whether to get the grey to try and match the trunklid liner from Decklid designs, or go with black. Decided to just go with black for the dark contrast, and keep the dark grey trunk lid which matches the rest of the trunk very well.

I think it will dress up the engine compartment nicely. Rich also explained in detail how to trim the liner for the cutout I am putting in for the CAI kit, and is giving me some extra material to black out the backside of the cutout. Should me a major improvement over my torn up UHI that I have now.

By the way, after all this activity on the subject, Rich told me he has only sold about 7 of these total so far!? I'm surprised he has not moved at least a couple of dozen as there seemed to be a lot of interest initially. Of course, it won't make you go any faster, but it's a nice touch anyway. :)

With regards to the rear Godshead badge that I need, I think I'll just check the how to thread here, order the center rim cap with the godshead and try to make my own.

I was able to get to Rich on the local Atlanta number no problem. I faxed my order.

The GH emblems, I am told, are on hold pending the response to the S-55 emblems. I told them that the GH's would likely be their bigger Marauder seller and encouraged they go ahead with them, but considering their slow sales on the UHL and Trunk Liner, they may be hedging on the gods heads. So, if you are thinking about getting the S-55 emblems, or plan to, then please order them sooner than later.

Well, 'couple things working against them on the UHIs- First, how long have these been available, and yet they

I believe the texture look is from the photograph not the actual emblem.
For some reason the color red does not compress well when saved out as a JPEG file. I have learned this from creating web graphics in the past.

My order arrived today! I have three red and three chrome S-55 emblems. These are NICE items.

I did a quick and dirty black out on one of the reds to show what it would look like -- it needs to be properly painted and clear coated.

You have the option of leaving them as is, or painting the recessed area to match your body color, thus making the recessed area disappear against your car body.

I've been asked if this could replace the trunk badge, that is, would it cover the holes. I don't know, and don't think so. The emblem was designed to fit below the right tail light like the SEMA car, and is sized that way.

The mottled appearance of the red paint appears only on the jpgs posted here. The original jpg does not show this texture, and the emblems have a glossy red appearance.

Received my S55 badges yesterday, in my opinion they look great installed but the red paint needs some work. It looks to me when they package them for shipping the paint was still soft and the plastic shipping bags was stuck to the badge.
Nevertheless they look great.

Also, red or chrome I am going to paint the spaces between the characters black to belend in with the car, just using some gloss black enamel. Donny suggested I put some clear on top of that, which i have never used. Went to the local home depot but couldn't find any clear. I'll try the paint store. Should I just ask for clearcoat?

I say just below the trim, not as low as you have it, but maybe a couple inches higher. Say the Marauder flag is 1" above trim, but the S-55 1" Below trim. Just an idea, good luck.

I'm just going to keep the red one and get a chrome one as well. That will give me some options. I noticed that the red is almost a perfect match with tester's gloss red enamel model paint, so I'll just repaint with that and then add a coat of clear on top. The powder coat sounds like a great idea, but I don't want to mess up the adhesive on the back.

I left Rich a message about the paint job though. Even though it looks fine from a few feet away, up close it looks pretty bad.

For those of you that have purchased the RED S55 emblems, after some calls and then reading this thread, it appears that there is a paint issue with them. From my inspection, it appears most emblems were packaged prior to the paint fully drying. So, there's little markings in the paint....

We will be replacing these for those who have received them with new emblems. I expect it will take a couple of weeks to get the replacements in, so I will post immediately when that happens.
