I saw a CHP cruiser by my house the other day with a louvered hood. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea of the need for this. Think it was SC'ed??? I didn't think that I could get away with an illegal u turn and speeding down the street just to catch up with him....I wanted to...Maybe if I was rich, I would have

It allows the K9 units to run their cars, with A/C at full blast, all day with out overheating.

Most LEO pop their hood and leave it cracked if they are going to be somewhere for hours with their car running (running overheads at a construction zone for ex.) so that hood is a smart idea. I think it should be standard on PI models.

I think it should be standard on PI models. It's a given that every mod has it's benefits, and it's drawbacks. Strike thebalance that fits your needs.
The CHP is probably testing (or, decided upon) a method to vent ultra-hot engine bay temps, when the police car is operating in hot, dry environments. But, I'd hate to see the reults of this mod on a cruiser that patrols rain soaked regions, or, the snow belt. Ugh...

It seems to me that a belly pan and louvered hood would even help with downforce ... OK maybe just a little ... but it would sure look cool.

Donny? Help? Isn't there some federal regulation about looking like a mailbox?

Cool. Yeah, why not.
Pretty soon we'll be replacing blowers with whole-house fans...
