Damn. You've discovered our plot.
It was a damned good one, too. First we were saturating the US auto market with booby-trapped GenMotors F-bodies built here near Montreal... we rigged the LS1 engines with lethal pushrods that would snap at high RPM on mis-shifts and impale all spectators watching the drags. Our next phase (ingeniously code-named "phase two") was to shift to the Ford platform and continue to rain terror down on the US population with booby-trapped Panther cars.
Want proof? Do you really think that switch in your trunks is actually an ON-OFF switch for the air suspension? Ha! Fools. There's a miniature transmitter that arms itself once the switch is tripped... a high-speed WI-FI link is set up to the owner's bank system where all funds are immediately wired to a Canadian central bank, and the transaction is completed with the car crushing its owner while he/she's under it performing some repairs *thinking* the car is safely jacked.
Want more? That dash-mounted clock... old-style detonator for a really powerful bomb. Someone got suspicious when it was noted the digits were counting backward... so we brought out the 300B and carefully moved the detonator to the radio. The subwoofer well is packed to the tits with TNT (hence the extra foam so the cars don't explode during transit) and the trigger is where the remote fuel door release was located.
You don't want to know what we were using those seat-pockets for... ;-)
Be afraid... be very afraid.
