We were doing some recruiting interviews in North Dallas today and in the parking lot of the hotel I saw this strange little station wagon sitting there so I went over a took a good look at it. Turns out is was a Chevrolet HHR, Im not sure if they are out yet as Ive not seen any ads fo one but anyway, there it was. It looks like a 3/4 scale PT Cruiser with ugly side bulges all over. No wonder GM is having problems as nobody is going to buy this thing. It really looked much smaller than the Chrysler and I can see it was GMs idea to copy the PT Cruiser with their gestation taking so much time now the trend for cars like the Cruiser are slipping in sales. Man, Chevy has really gone down the tubes, I feel bad about it really with all those jobs up north going away. There should be a bunch of autoworkers with torches and pikes outside GM Headquarters.

My dealer got one in. I haven't seen it myself but I know we washed it a few times.

I really love reading quotes from Lutz trying to argue that it isn't like the PT Cruiser.

Silly little car... at least 5 years too late.

Hey Vortex,

I thought the PT Cruiser would never sell either. (They look like my fathers 39 Plymouth  ) Look at them now. They are all over the place.

For some reason, people want to buy UGLY cars. That Chevy will sell.

Its not just the look but it seems it is more the size of one of those Scion boxes than a PT Cruiser. Actually, I kinda like the PT Cruiser convertible, I saw a purple one and it looked ok with a low gangster top on it. Anyway, that HHR sure seemed tiny, the photo is misleading as there isnt anything to scale it against.

Being a PT owner I like the HHR. It is designed by the same guy that did the PT. He jumped ship and landed at GM.

Has kinda an F-150 vibe, no?

It looks good, but 172 horsepower does not cut it. Sad. It needs a 505HP 7.0L LS7

someone just built one for the salt flats they hope to do 224 mph in it. Their modified one looks cool, I'll keep the MM and hope for a Vette or a Stang one day.

I saw somewhere that the HHR is supposed to be based off the 50's Suburbans, but smaller. I guess they said that GM wants to go after the crowd that buys the Scions, or those types of cars. They said the HHR can be modified to suit the owner or something.

Maybe someone went to the "So Ugly It's Cute" school of design? ;)

Like I said, in the photos you can't tell just how tiny it is for real. The pics make it look like some old Suburban, you can put the HHR in the back seat of a Suburban.

Donnie Carlson-keep up the good work with you photo mods :bows: ! I saw one of these HHR's when I looked at a $61K 2005 'Vette convert this week. HHR's are cramped/small inside. It was the same blue color  . Perhaps Chev. made the first 10,000 in the same hue of blue :pimp: ? They will sell 'cause they are cheap and Chevrolet is such high quality now! ;) :puke: (JD Power says so!) :shake:

You're gonna have to be more specific... I've sent the Toddster a lot of video links. The most recent one, with babes and cars?

He only knows how to do one thing?

The PT Cruiser doesn't look like any previous Chrysler product. It looks mor like a late 30's Ford.
The PT Cruiser I know would sell well, and it did. It has a huge following, PT Cruiser clubs around here meet on a weekly basis!

I'm not sure about the HHR. It's intersting, but I think it just doesn't quite make it. That said it will probably sell well.
