Greetings,
I have searched the threads and think that these 16" HPP Crown Vic wheels will fit the Marauder but can any body confirm?
I plan to use them for winter duty here in Michigan.

yep, they will bolt on but will stick out further than the stock MM wheels.

Any caliper clearance issues? I am not too concerned with the appearance but want to make sure they won't cause any harm. Will they stick out far enough that the fender lips will be in danger?

Thanks for the reply.

You had better double check that advice, the CV and MM got bigger brakes in '03.

Well Crap! Is that a definitive answer? If so, I have to try to get out of my Ebay purchase. Newbie should have done more research  ...

They should fit and clear the brakes. It is 16" and up to worry about. They might the fenders on hard bumps. There are pics of MMs with 16" steelies around here, Some with Snow tires and stuff.

The snow tires on the 16" HPP rims are slightly smaller than the MM fronts. They are 225/60R16 (26.63" vs 27.25" MM) and I planned to buy a set of larger snow tires for the rear (probably 225/70R16 - 28.4" vs 28.61" MM) to keep the ratio proper (and the tread narrow for better snow traction).
I don't really want to deal with caliper or fender clearance issues and if you think I will have issues, I will try to cut a deal to get out of the sale (for a price I'm sure).

Thanks.

For 2006 PIs and Taxis will get 17" steel wheels apparently. Those might make good winter wheels for the Marauder.

I used 16" marquis wheels from a 1998 and had no clearance issues.

I concur with those who said the the front tire rubber may occationally rub when fully turned one way or the other, and ascending or decending a severe bump/dip.

Otherwise, all is well.

Thanks, Barry, "been there, done that" advice is always the best advice.

The wheels pictured are highly NOT recommended. They will move the tires out almost 2 inches at each corner. Besides clearance issues, they will degrade steering and significantly increase ball joint, tie rod, and wheel bearing loads. These are durable vehicles. Things won't fail immediately, but service life will be shortened.

Thanks for all the replies. I will not use those wheels on my MM.
I should have asked the question here first but ended up running out of time before I had to bid on them and chose poorly...

The Ebay seller has offered the rims to the second bidder. Hopefully he will accept. I told the seller that I'd cover the difference between what I bid and what the next bidder who wants them bid.

Soooooo.... For the winter, I don't care too much about how the wheels look, I just want them to fit properly. What's my best option? Police wheels? If so, where's the best place to buy them? About what will I pay?

THANKS!!!

Many have been very satisfied with the police "steelie" wheel, and you can find options for them on-line to dress them up a bit too. Good luck!

THANKS!!!This is really easy.

Tire Rack sells 16" steelies that fit our cars quite nicely. I want to say they are like $45 each NEW. Just tell them you are interested in the wheels that are offered in a package they put together for us two years back for the Marauder.

OR....

As I said before, get 4 new / used / refinished / whatever.....16" steelies that fit a '98 Marquis.
Yes, all of these wheels stick out just a tad, MAYBE 3/4 OF AN INCH, and it isn't that bad to look at, and for short few months every year you'll use them, I highly doubt they'll wear anything out.

Like I said, I know these work because I DID IT MYSELF THE FIRST WINTER I OWNED THE CAR.

Here is picture of my '98 Grand Marquis wheels with snow tires on my friends MM.

I'll try Tirerack again. When I tried to get a wheel and tire package for my MM the website said they did not have a MM package.

I guess I will find the wheels that fit and then size my own tires.

Thanks.

Thanks. The trick is to CALL them. There isn't enough demand apparently to have their IT guys update the website.

If the sales person is not informed, kindly ask for another. They did create a 16" winter package for us. It may behove you to just purchase the package they offer. After all, $550 or so for 4 wheels AND tires is pretty good deal. Many folks have personal preference for snow tire design, I do, so if the tires themselves are something you want to find elsewhere...no problem.

In the meanwhile, search our forums for 'SNOW TIRES' and root through a ton of threads and you will find discussions regarding various member setups.

In Ohio, I prefer studded rear snow tires. Therefore I went locally to get KELLY Wintermarks and had them studded. I used the Artic Alpines in the same size on the front, and actually ordered them from Tire Rack as their price was better.
